Polls: Europe Negative on Bush Re-Election
Edited on Mon Dec-13-04 05:35 AM by leftchick
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=544&ncid=716&e=5&u=/ap/20041213/ap_on_go_pr_wh/international_poll

<snip>

WASHINGTON - President Bush (news - web sites)'s re-election was viewed negatively by a majority of people in several European countries — including those in Britain, America's strongest ally in the war in Iraq (news - web sites), Associated Press polling found.

The president was not the only one viewed unfavorably. Americans generally were seen in an unfavorable light by many in France, Germany and Spain, countries not supportive of U.S. Iraq policies.

Bush pledged soon after his re-election victory Nov. 2 that he would work to "deepen our trans-Atlantic ties with the nations of Europe." He plans a trip to Europe in February.

The president, and Americans generally, have plenty of work to do to win over Europeans, according to international AP-Ipsos

Photo with the story. What a dork...

1. Well, duh
Anyone with a lick of sense and a rudimentary understanding of Europe could have seen this coming from three thousand miles away

3. I know of no other politician who keeps lifting his right arm like this.
And I wish he'd stay the * away from Europe. Had no plans to ever go to Brussels and now I have to.

Somebody I know over here has a picture of Bush and Blair with the caption "The leaders of the axis of evil". It hangs next to the toilet in the bathroom.

And that is NO leftist or even liberal person.

4. this is just more fuel for the "kick out the UN" crowd
Bush's supporters don't give a crap about world opinion.

Hell, from talking to a few of them, they actually held Kerry in a negative light for being an internationalist. A couple of them went so far as to note it as their primary reason for voting for Bush. They utterly despise the UN and the global community it represents.

6. Why a poll for that ?
Edited on Mon Dec-13-04 06:49 AM by BonjourUSA
In France, I remember the first time Bush appeared on our Tv screens during his campaign in 2000. Everybody I met scoffed at him and said "they are never going to vote for such an asshole !!" and you did (excuse me the "you"). This year, everybody here wished and said "they aren't going to vote this asshole yet, they understood what asshole he is"... You did (excuse again for the "you").

The French people seems to change their feeling. Before this election, in the polls, 72% of them answered "yes" at this question "Do you feel a friendship for the American people ?" (where is our renown of visceral anti-americanism ?)... But sincerely, I don't know what could be this response now !

being negative about * to being negative about the 59+ million people who happily voted for *? With the popular vote adding weight to a legitimate victory, things do not bode well.

Not to mention the anti-France and anti-everything-not-* since 9/11 and particualrly Iraq, * and his supporters seem to have more to answer for. :scared:

15. But...COLIN POWELL said that Bush's upcoming Europe trip...
...would "heal the wounds" caused by Bush's fundamentalist genocide in Iraq! He said that Canada LOVED our beloved fearless leader again, and that soon, the WORLD would follow! He said the result of the Canada visit was a LOT of LOVE and a GREAT BIG "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!"

He SAID that Canada was a "dry run" for the Europe trip, and it went WELL, and there would be EVEN MORE HEALING among out ALLIES in Europe!

Maybe he was lying through his teeth...what do you think?
