Now his double affair laid bare (Kerik cheated on wife with Judith Regan)
http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/261625p-224000c.html

Former NYPD Commissioner Bernard Kerik conducted two extramarital affairs simultaneously, using a secret Battery Park City apartment for the passionate liaisons, the Daily News has learned.

The first relationship, spanning nearly a decade, was with city Correction Officer Jeanette Pinero; the second, and more startling, was with famed publishing titan Judith Regan.

His affair with Regan, the stunningly attractive head of her own book publishing company, lasted for almost a year.

Dramatically, each woman learned of the existence of the other after Pinero discovered a love note left by Regan in the apartment.

and they could discredit Giuliani in the process. I read a little excerpt from somewhere else saying the relationship between the Bushies and Rudy was kind of strained anyway, since Rudy's not exactly a 'good Christian' type; he's really a bit of a white elephant for the Bushies. They kind of had to take him on, since they canonized him after 9/11, but he was inconvenient for their whole 'moral values' crusade. That may very well have legs, that they let him hand them Kerik so they could beat Rudy up over him later and turn their backs on him.

64. Rudy probably also helped with the Catholic vote
There was an enormous effort to get out the Catholic vote in this past election. Priests were told to tell their flocks that Kerry was a baby-killer (single-handedly responsible for every abortion that ever occurred, didn't you know/sarcasm off) the Sunday before election day.

I would not be surprised if Rudy had some hand in this. Perhaps provided the WH with directories, used his influence with priests and bishops, that sort of thing.

The reason it is good for Democrats to reveal the lying philandering behavior of Republicans is that it might help wake up the millions of Christians, Jews, Muslims, and other people of faith who have been lied to by this administration.

bushco has used an unprecedented marketing effort to convince people that bushco is Godly and moral. It's the opposite of the truth and it's our job to reveal the facts!

71. Exactly!
Saint Rudy is too moderate of a Republican for them, and must be dealt with.

Although, IMO, Rudy should've known all of this before he touted Kerik to the WH. I mean, jeez, if I were gonna go to bat for a guy I'd wanna make darn sure that he could make it through the approval process.

Which, of course, is exactly the point. I wonder if the BFEE actually approached Rudy / Kerik rather than the other way around?

Inquiring minds want to know.

85. Interesting.
Somneone posted a photo here of Bush standing behind Kerik when he was announcing him as a nominee, and I remember replying to the photo that Bush looked like he knew he had something on Kerik.

I would speculate that maybe Bush was hoping the media would give Kerik a pass and the WH would be able to manipulate Kerik by threatening to reveal some of this stuff.

If they can't uncover this info before someone is nominated (ie. have a list of 10 basic questions with questions like 1) Have you ever had an extra-marital affair? 2) Have you ever hired an illegal immigrant as an employee? 3) Have you ever done something that could be seen as tax evasion? 4) Have you ever been sexually involved with someone under age 16? etc. etc.) Then how the hell are they going to protect our nation?

What a bunch of idiots....I feel less safe by the day...

6. OMG!!! Check this out:
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/12/13/nyregion/13matters.html?oref=login

Mr. Kerik had been with Mr. Giuliani for years, starting as a chauffeur in the 1993 mayoral campaign. Anyone who worked with him will tell you that Mr. Kerik, too, pretty much did as he wished.

So it is not surprising that he used police officers to do research for his memoir, incurring a $2,500 fine from the city's Conflicts of Interest Board. Or that he sent homicide investigators to question and fingerprint several Fox News employees because his publisher, Judith Regan, had apparently suspected them of stealing her cellphone and necklace.

13. I love the last paragraph
The guess here is that he knew all about the serious flaws in his background. But remember, he is accustomed to working in a climate that celebrated audacity and protected insiders. He must have thought that, as in his City Hall days, he was still immune.

Isn't this what all the thugs in power think right now? They all think they are immune to any scrutiny-- especially Bush!

The necklace was reportedly then found at the bottom of her purse and the phone had been misplaced by her, also. I'll look for the article but that is what I read this weekend...

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A49827-2004Dec8.html

Regan's items apparently went AWOL from a studio at Fox News Channel, where she also worked. They included a cell phone, a necklace and a credit card. All the items were later accounted for. The necklace was found at the bottom of her handbag. The credit card had been left behind at a drugstore. As for the phone, it was later found in a trash basket -- and it is my guess that it was the real reason for such measured panic. You never know what numbers might be in a cell phone.

62. I'm starting to think they knew all about Kerik and didn't care
so long as they could get the little Nazi into the cabinet.

How could they NOT know all this shit about this man? Most of us are just ordinary citizens without the resources of one of the world's best investigative services at our fingertips. Bush has the FBI. He has the CIA. He has the fucking NYPD fa chrissakes. You can bet your sweet ass they knew all about Bernard Kerik.

The trick was sliding him through his confirmation hearings. Once he was through, his past really wouldn't have mattered. (The fourteen scummiest people in your state's penitentiary are less sleazy than anyone in George Bush's cabinet.)

I bet he goes to church every Sunday, though; to half of America, that's all that matters.

95. Say what?
"liberal political correctness"?

Kerik withdrew his nomination under the hiding-behind-the-nanny's-skirts ploy, but his rep was a lot worse than just a couple of extra-marital affairs. Throw in the harassment lawsuits, the warrant for non-payment of condo bills, the fuck ups in Iraq. . . . . He's a pos of the first water, and whether he was nominated by a knowing boooosh in order to discredit Giuliani, who knows. But to say Kerik was a victim of liberal political correctness seems disingenuous at the very least.

RETALIATION ALLEGED Suit: Kerik derailed his promotion

Homeland Security nominee Bernard Kerik blocked the promotion of a qualified jail supervisor because he had once run afoul of a female correction officer Kerik dated, a lawsuit alleges.

Retired Correction Department supervisor Eric DeRavin III claims in the lawsuit filed in Manhattan federal court that Kerik passed him over five times between 1998 and 2000 in retaliation for reprimanding Correction Officer Jeanette Pinero.

Regan admonished Bill Clinton and Monika L when she was doing interviews at Fox. Moral values etcetra.

Now that another one of these people is exposed (O'Reilly) last month , now Regan, how long do we have to wait before we hear some Democrat appear on one of these Fox shows or CNN (Blitzer) to actually take these people on?

I saw an excerpt from the Hannity and Colmes show where the guy Bozell was on. A guy that was defending some liberal position was laughed at by Hannity and Bozell as though what he was saying was so outlandish. Yet Colmes said nothing. This is not the first time I have seen this charade.

We need people with strong opinions that will not allow these idiots the opportunity to shout over their comments and ridicule them.

They always have so many excuses for rightwingers, for anyone who advances their cause. It's comical when you realize one of their major "strengths" with the dumber part of our society has been their claim of virtue (of a wildly twisted strain). Without their claim of morality, they got bupkis.(sp?) Well, they do have greed, and hatred of course, to fall back on.....

97. from salon

Just call him Officer Friendly: Um ... it looks like former NYPD commissioner and Homeland Security secretary nominee-no-more Bernard Kerik had more than just a nanny problem. The New York Daily News reports that Kerik, who is married with two children, had affairs with two women at the same time -- and one of them was publishing bigwig Judith Regan. Kerik's relationship with Regan, whose imprint published his autobiography, lasted but a year, and included nearly daily assignations at Regan's apartment and at another apartment Kerik rented in Battery Park City for what the Daily News is calling "passionate liaisons." Kerik's second, longer-term affair was with city correction officer Jeanette Pinero, with whom he carried on for almost 10 years. The two women learned of each other after Pinero found a note Regan left Kerik at the secret love apartment, which Kerik apparently used to meet both women. Regan is believed to have been unaware that the apartment was not Kerik's full-time residence. Several lawsuits have been brought against the city by corrections workers who claim that they were mistreated on the job by Kerik after they tangled with Pinero. (N.Y. Daily News)

99. NO, NO, IT'S ONLY THE NANNY!! Don't you guys trust the media?
Geez.

It's not because he used his power of office to have affairs. It's not because he availed himself of insider tips to make a killing on the stock market. It's not because he abandoned his daughter and wife. It's not because he helped his Saudi employers gather dirt on enemies while supposedly operating as a security chief. It's not because he's a deadbeat and a scofflaw who avoids litigation. It's not because he cynically exploited his office for financial gain. It's not because he's a friend of the mob and an enabler of Dirty Rudy. None of that is true. He just had a Zoe Baird moment and had to recuse himself.

Once again, the grown-ups have failed: they don't know better, and they hate having to bear scrutiny.

The only people who will have truck with this mob are dirty themselves.

As the administration tangles itself up with lies, doubletalking how they'd done all the necessary vetting, while everything they should have found was concealed by this person, the media plays the happy fugue: it was only a childcare issue.

and published it in Newsday. Remarks from the article on the two women involved:

Kerik Nomination is a Ticking Time Bomb Published on Friday, December 3, 2004 by the Long Island, NY Newsday

Why did Kerik send a New York City homicide detective to rouse TV hair and makeup artists in the middle of the night when his book publisher (and workout-partner) lost her cell phone?
http://www.bodydharma.org/choices/Bush2/henican.html

Couldn't find a photo on the corrections officer, found this one for Judith Regan:

with this interesting information. I never watched her at Fox and didn't know much about her, so this does indicate she has been more than a Fox "Talking Head." Very, very odd.....

Why she might be annoying:
Her son was born out of wedlock and she never married the father.
She divorced Robert Kleinschmidt, the father of her daughter, in a very angry divorce. The divorce battle went for over five years and went through dozens of lawyers and many judges, costing more than a million dollars.
When she published rival Rush Limbaugh's book, Howard Stern called her 'Judas Limbaugh.'
She wrote for the National Enquirer for three years.

From a different source, it says Kerik married his wife during his affair with Pinero. :wtf:
Many close to Kerik in the mid-1990s assumed that someday he would marry Pinero, a career correction officer described as spirited and attractive by friends, a close friend and a former high-ranking Correction Department source said.

The relationship continued after Kerik married Hala Matli, a hygienist in his dentist's office whom he met in mid-1996 and wed in November 1998, according to multiple sources close to Pinero and Kerik.

120. All I want to know is did he do the nanny or not?
Was the Nanny a White House story?
Was their even a nanny?
These are burning questions that must be answered.
How could they be this incompetent?
