Ohio soldier killed while on patrol in Iraq (#1297)
DEFIANCE, Ohio - An Ohio soldier who enlisted in the Army out of high school was shot and killed while on patrol in Iraq, his mother said on Monday.

Army Pfc. Josh Ramsey, 19, of Defiance in northwest Ohio, died of a single gunshot wound on Sunday afternoon, said his mother, Le'Ann Ramsey.

Ramsey last saw his family during a two-week leave in August but was planning a 30-day trip home early next year. He enjoyed handing out soccer balls and other items to the Iraqi children.

"That was one of the chores he really loved doing. He loved children," his mother said. "He thought it was a good idea being over there helping these people. They need our help."

5. .....the Army thought it was a good idea for Ramsey to over in Iraq
...the army does the thinking for the mindless. Bet Ramsey listened to Rush and watched FAUX.

"Bring 'em on and let's roll"

6. Sorry, Josh, wish you had been HERE and playing soccer with American kids
You weren't helping the Iraqis, unless putting a band-aid on a gushing hemorrhage can be considered "helping."

RIP.

7. He should have become a teacher, if he loved children
The army (especially under Bush) seems like the wrong choice for someone who loves children. A pity he was there at all. Maybe it was supposed to be his ticket to an education. His hometown is ironically named, under the circumstances.

8. When his family protests his death in the streets
I'll be by their side.

If they're content celebrating his "heroism" in solitude, so am I.

9. Toledo-Blade article about the soldier, it's heartbreaking

Paulding County soldier killed in Iraq was due home in February

ARTHUR, Ohio - Calling home to Paulding County from Iraq, Josh Ramsey told his stepmother Saturday that he had to talk fast: He had five minutes left on his phone card.

"He said, 'Mama, I'm still alive. I beat two ambushes today and I'm tired. I worked 26 hours today and I need to go to bed. I'm just checking in," Le'Ann Ramsey said last night.
