Democrats Planning Watchdog Role
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A62053-2004Dec13.html

I think this is LBN--if not, please move to appropriat forum

thanks!

Senate Democrats announced plans yesterday for wide-ranging hearings to examine Bush administration policies and conduct, saying the Republicans who control both houses of Congress have abdicated responsibility for oversight of the GOP administration.

"The congressional watchdog remains fast asleep, and we intend to wake him up," said Sen. Byron L. Dorgan (N.D.), who announced the party's plan at a Capitol Hill news conference.

Dorgan, chairman of the Senate Democratic Policy Committee, which will sponsor the hearings, said they will begin in January, with the subject of the first couple of sessions to be announced later this month.

1. So, um....now they are going to start watching the Republicans, eh?
WHAT THE FUCK HAVE THEY BEEN DOING FOR THE LAST FOUR YEARS!!!????!!????

Completely useless.

I'd like to believe that they mean this, and that things will be different, but I've been lied to far too often recently to take their word for it. Show me, don't tell me.

3. Watch all they want!
It's the dog part I want them to be pro-active about! :grr:

From the bits and pieces I've seen so far, Reed appears to be getting things in order. I wasn't too keen on him and am holding off criticism to SEE if there's effectiveness in his actions. So far, though, he seems to be moving things in a forward direction (I refuse to utilize the word "right" except when appropriate and necessary *sigh*).

It's going to take some time and patience from us though, I think. We have an uphill battle with the Bushmedia controlling the message and marketing. But I have hope! ...most days, anyway...

4. would have been nice to do PRIOR to invading another country
I don't know what is more depressing sometimes...my anger at the republicans or my frustration with the Democrats.
