Jerry Falwell launches 4-year Moral Majority "OPERATION: CHRISTIAN VOTE"
Ok, I guess this is little ole' Kef reporting instead of a newspaper. This just arrived in my mail, so no link. Please move to wherever you feel this needs to go, mods. However, I think this is news.

DATE: December 14, 2004
FROM: Jerry Falwell
TO: THE MORAL MAJORITY COALITION

Two days after the November re-election of President George W. Bush and the substantial increase of pro-life and pro-family members of Congress in both the House and Senate, I announced the formation of The Moral Majority Coalition (TMMC).

A primary goal of TMMC is the registration of 10 million new evangelical voters for the 2006 and 2008 general elections. We have no time to waste if we are to reach this ambitious goal.

Effective January 2, 2005 I am launching a four-year voter registration campaign I call "OPERATION: CHRISTIAN VOTE".

TMMC will work in conjunction with the new Helms School of Government at Liberty University . Named for retired five-term conservative North Carolina Senator Jesse Helms, whom I consider a true statesman and a national treasure, this school seeks to train young people to enter public service with a Christian worldview and a bold passion to confront a liberal-oriented culture.

Through "OPERATION: CHRISTIAN VOTE", students at Liberty will spend weekends and summers over the next four years working hand-in-hand with pastors and staff members of evangelical churches all over America, registering voters in the churches and neighborhoods along with educating parishioners on issues of concern to them.

The Moral Majority Coalition will coordinate with pastors, and provide transport, food and other related expenses for all materials needed for this nationwide effort. The costs will be enormous, but the benefits will be long enduring for our nation.

With more than 225,000 Bible-believing churches in this nation, the potential impact of such a massive voter registration campaign is tremendous.

I believe that America was founded as a Christian nation, respective and tolerant of all religions, but we are indeed One Nation Under God. And it’s time that the people of God exercised their right to vote and vote their Christian convictions.

"OPERATION: CHRISTIAN VOTE" is the most ambitious voter registration project undertaking I have launched since we registered 8.5 million voters through the Moral Majority in 1979 and 1980, resulting in the election of President Ronald Reagan.

"OPERATION: CHRISTIAN VOTE" can result in an overwhelming victory for socially, politically and fiscally conservative candidates in coming elections and it may be the catalyst that saves our nation. I am seeking nothing less than overwhelming victory at the ballot box!

But I need your immediate help. I am asking you to join me in this far-reaching effort to register 10 million Christian voters for the 2006 and 2008 elections by making your ONLINE GIFT TODAY to The Moral Majority Coalition.

Your gift will enable TMMC and Liberty student volunteers from the Helms School of Government to reach hundreds of thousands of new voters over the next 12 months as part of our national four-year campaign.

In appreciation for your gift of $25 or more, I will rush you this brand new Old-Time Gospel Hour Quartet CD simply called: “Hymns.” This CD features Robbie Hiner and the OTGH Quartet singing classic hymns of the faith like ....

Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus, Nothing But The Blood, Victory In Jesus, There is a Fountain Filled With Blood, Send The Light, In The Garden, The Old Rugged Cross and more.

If you respond with your gift of $25 or more by Thursday, December 18th, you should receive your “Hymns” CD within days. You will enjoy these great hymns of the faith throughout the New Year.

I need your help to launch "OPERATION: CHRISTIAN VOTE" on January 2, 2005. If you can make an online gift of $100 or even $1,000, it will be deeply appreciated. To make your gift now, click here to make your credit card gift on our secure server.

Jerry Falwell

P.S. In case you haven’t joined The Moral Majority Coalition as a Charter Member, I urge you to do so today. Membership is free and you will receive an official membership card by U.S. Mail once you register your membership. For a gift of $25 or more to TMMC, besides the OTGH Quartet Hymns CD, you will also receive two “I VOTE CHRISTIAN” CLINGS (window statics) for your car back window and a handbook called A Citizen’s Call to Action: How To Affect Public Policy and Become a Citizen Activist.

go to the IRS with the Re-puke thing from this election and the TMMC shit.
I know the church or someone associated with the church gave the re-pukes my name and add, I have been digging for more facts since the election.
But so help me if they give my name to this SOB, I will take the church to the mat.
I will not be intimidated by the bunch of thugs.

28. Infiltrate and Subvert
The next step after infiltrating is subversion, and we should be looking for ways to do that. I know that the support for Bush and the Republican Party by the Catholic Church angered a lot of otherwise-loyal Catholics. The same thing has to be happening - or will be happening - in other churches. We just have to be ready to exploit that!

Election's old news, but partisanship keeps sailing
By Stephanie Schorow
Wednesday, December 15, 2004

The 2004 presidential election was decided more than a month ago, but neither the despondent losers nor gleeful winners seem prepared to kick back on the couch for the next four years.

Liberals are emerging from post-defeat hangovers and mobilizing over issues of voting-machine reliability and redefining so-called moral values. In the red state heartland, evangelists are preparing to cash in their political capital as a linchpin in President Bush's victory.

The Rev. Jerry Falwell has resurrected his Moral Majority as the Faith and Values Coalition to encourage supporters to continue to ``vote Christian.''

Moveon.org, the organization formed as a response to President Clinton's impeachment that evolved into a mobilization powerhouse, recently held more than 1,000 house parties nationwide to determine the next move.

30. I see two things here.
One, the obvious play for money to support a political goal by his church.

The other, is to create the notion that there will be 10 million more Xtian right voters in 06 & 08, particularly 08. * is winning because of his 'popularity' -- so how will they explain a repuke victory in 08 without him? He's supposed to be the 'new Reagan' who everybody likes. Obviously, whoever follows won't have his 'charm'. So now they are creating a mythical Xtian majority to cover the stealing of the next elections as well. No matter how many or how few they actually get, they'll use the 10 million number.

Could somebody PLEASE find something we can hang Falwell on? Do a Swaggart on his butt?

However, I think this a clear warning and sign that progressives should not wait on the democratic party to resolve its multple personality issue - to be liberal/progressive or to be moderate/reThug-lite. We need to start our own reorgainzation and fundraising and setting up of training centers and all. We need to stop waiting for things to happen and then react ot events. Lets take the lead and out do the bastards for once.

49. It's not an absence of proactivity.
We really need to have a "station" by which to connect our various compassionate causes.

Our diversity is a double-edged sword, so to speak, because we are energetic about our independent causes but tend to rebel against funneling our energies into any single source (e.g. we are VERY authoriatarophobics *LOL*).

I was hoping that MoveOn could be our "station/channel",...but,

You know,...we CAN be diverse in pursuit of our causes AND be unified in overthrowing this theocratical, corporate, octopus,...simultaneously!!!

They are very active in Church/State issues and filed numerous lawsuits and also lots of successful non-litiginous actions. They have chapters just about everywhere, and they can monitor this "Operation" very closely, and they won't hesitate to go to action the second it goes beyond "registration efforts" and contact the IRS to remove their non-profit status. They have been a thorn in the Religious Right's side for years!

Hello fellow Hoosier!:hi:

Please send this letter to the IRS Exempt Organizations Division at the Klucyzinski (sp?) Federal building in Chicago, 230 South Dearborn. State that it is a referral.

If any of you are interest, you might look up the US Tax Court case American Campaign Academy, in which an organization was denied tax exempt status for a school to train political strategists, where it was determined that it was really a front to provide a private benefit to the Republican party. The citation is 92 TC 1053 (May 16, 1989) -- unfortunately, the tax court website only goes back to 1995.

Cheers.

45. Ah, but Liberty University?
You're right both the Christian Coalition and the Moral Majority are Section 501(c)(4) organizations, I think, but if Liberty University is a Section 501(c)(3) organizatin, then it can endanger its exemption--Section 501(c)(3) organizations are prohibited from political activitiy and from what is referred to as "private benefit" where a private party so benefits from an otherwise chaitable activities that it overwhelms its exempt purpose. Plus, the private inurement prohibition, of which the private benefit rule is sort of a corollary, applices to SEction 501(c)(4) organizations as well, by statute.

Here's wishing Falwell Happy High Cholesteral Count! :toast:
(My way of hoping my personal wish for him comes true)

51. He does appear to be overdosing on food lately. You can hardly see his
eyes through all the folds of skin.

55. Greedy Falwell wants yet MORE money
and he is even exploiting Bushitler to do it.
I'm sure he's fishing for a BIG FAT donation from the GOP.
$$$$$$$$ is this guy's only God.

So much for separation of Church and State.

Oh and I forgot to mention :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke:

60. Sounds like it's time to fight back with "OPERATION: AMERICAN VOTE"

And of course, it's time to look in Falwells' laundry and see how much of it is dirty. There has to be a LOT of dirt on this guy out there somewhere. We just have to find it. :)

61. Who's going to read the New Testament to Falwell?
Do we need to sit him down and force him to read it? How can a so-called man of God be so impervious to the teachings of Christ?

As a member of AU I feel that it's important to keep up on what the fundies are saying to their own.

He puts out an editorial letter once or twice a week. Several conservative sites also publish them.

68. I'm starting "Operation Oust the Anti-Christ"
and asking true Christians and other concerned, compassionate people of various faiths and non-faiths to send big bucks directly to opponents of rethuglicans.

I offer no CDs, DVDs, tote bags or t-shirts. Your only reward will be the knowledge that you've helped save the Earth from the most evil slimebags that ever inhabited the planet.

73. He could have said the same thing using just one key sentence
which is what this is really about anyway:

"I am asking you to join me in this far-reaching effort to register 10 million Christian voters for
the 2006 and 2008 elections by making your ONLINE GIFT TODAY to The Moral Majority Coalition."

76. My bizarro theory on Jerry Falwell
What if, after all is said and done, Jerry Falwell turns out to really just be a performance artist, and an extremely effective one? His whole life dedicated to his art, but little do people know it's all an act.

Bizarre, I agree? But not considering what other people have done for the sake of performance art. Witness Chris Korda, the son of Simon & Schuster editor-in-chief Michael Korda. This guy dresses in drag and heads a pseudo-serious organization that encourages people to kill themselves and commit canibalism to stem world overpopulation.

It could happen...
