TREATY TRUSTED MORE THAN U.S.

Yomiuri Shimbun

Even though many observers believe Japan-U.S. ties have reached their best level yet, the joint Yomiuri Shimbun-Gallup survey indicated a rapid decline in the Japanese public's confidence in the United States and that Americans are becoming more aware of their isolation in the international community.

2. To the global world, we come across as arrogant & ignorant.
A reflection of Bush. And speaking of arrogance and ignorance, I've got this to say about American private schools. I went to a private college and I was not impressed with the level of worldliness of the wealthy kids. In fact, I was completely shocked by their provincial blinders. They weren't in the least bit interested in learning about someone else's culture. They lacked that wide-eyed desire to look at something new, and instead, seemed intent on showing they had already acquired the kind of adult sophistication you can buy with a wild dash through Brooks Brothers, Saks or Neiman Marcus.
