General sees Iraq 'victory' in a year
http://www.washtimes.com/upi-breaking/20041216-051126-6914r.htm

he general in charge of U.S. and coalition forces in Iraq Thursday predicted "victory" by December 2005.

Gen. George Casey defined winning as a three-pronged achievement: "A constitutionally elected government that is representative of all the Iraqi people and with Iraqi security forces that are capable of maintaining domestic order and denying Iraq as a safe haven for terror," he told reporters at the Pentagon.

3. time for duck tape and plastic
"What is victory? I say victory is persuading the American people and the rest of the world that this is not a quick matter that will be over in a month or a year or even five years. It is something we need to do so that we can continue to live in a world with powerful weapons and with people who are willing to use those powerful weapons. And we can do that. That would be a victory in my opinion." Donald Rumsfeld, December 2001

4. Thank you General Westmoreland.
Just watch. A year from now when there are 250,000 troops in Iraq, the draft is kicking into gear and over 2000 Americans are dead from the war, this clown will be retired and take one of those jobs as a "military analyst" for on of the cable news channels.

6. Exactly....
If we get only 25,000 more troops, we can end the insurgency once and fall all. How many times did we hear that in the 60s?

peace and harmony would reign in Iraq.

15. Westmoreland's speech to Congress, April 28, 1967
On April 28, 1967, General William Westmoreland, commander of U.S. operations in Vietnam, addressed Congress on America's expanding military role in the Vietnam conflict. Westmoreland, a decorated veteran of World War II and the Korean War, had replaced General Paul Harkins as chief of Vietnam operations in 1964. By the spring of 1967, the extended length of the war and the mounting number of U.S. casualties had helped to turn many in America against the U.S. military presence in Vietnam. Westmoreland responded to the criticism by asking Congress for over 200,000 troops, and in November 1967 he famously declared that the end of the war was in sight. However, his war of attrition met with little success, and in February 1968, the Communists' massive Tet Offensive crushed all hopes of an imminent end to the conflict. Following the Tet Offensive, which is widely regarded as the turning point in the Vietnam War, General Westmoreland was recalled to Washington, D.C., where he was reassigned as U.S. Army chief of staff. He retired from the military in 1972 and in 1974 unsuccessfully ran for governor of South Carolina.

5. None of those prongs are the job of our soldiers.
How can a government be elected that is "representative of all the Iraqi people" if we've already killed 100,000 of them? What about the remaining "insurgents", do they get to vote? They're Iraqis too.

Since a democratically-elected Iraqi government will consist primarily of Shiite Muslims with close ties to Iran, what's his opinion of how we'll accept this wonderful new government, and how many days before we declare war on them as well?

We're:

Knee deep in the Big Muddy
And the damn fools keep yelling to push on
Waist deep in the Big Muddy
And the damn fools keep yelling to push on
Waist deep! Neck deep! we'll be drowning before too long
We're neck deep in the Big Muddy

20. Just like when Bushie said "Mission Accomplished."
I suppose victory must mean, then, that the country will be blown to bits.

Some repugs I know actually hope that happens. Sick bastards.

Not before first running through more of the lives they consider disposable.

26. Who reads the Washington Times?
Is Casey one of the Generals that said the U.S. would have everything under control after five weeks of the invasion? I think so! That was over two years ago and now he's saying......oh never mind.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED ---

his own condolence letters. With leadership like that, how could we lose.
