The worst humanitarian crisis on the planet - Congo
United Nations - The fighting in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo has left "the worst humanitarian crisis on the planet" and one of the most undocumented, UN goodwill ambassador, actress Jessica Lange, said.

Lange, who spent a week in the volatile area last month, watched as the French-led international force finished its mission and handed over the task to UN peacekeepers in the town of Bunia in Ituri province.

The Security Council has said the French-led troops prevented a greater humanitarian tragedy, and Lange agreed.

"This is at this time the worst humanitarian crisis on the planet, and the worst documented war in the history of Africa," she said.

Women and girls are often raped during military operations
Combatants have committed rape and other forms of sexual violence, she said.

She stayed a month. Braver than Bush, Blair, Rumsfeld, Powel, Cheney...

2. So much for the 'blonde jokes'.
Isn't it interesting that we haven't assisted the French in fighting a humanitarian tragedy? But we sure as hell malign them when they don't help us bomb innocent people. :puke:
