Bush plans to visit Germany
President George Bush is to visit Germany at the end of February, the government in Berlin announced yesterday, in a trip designed to heal the US-German rift over Iraq.

Mr Bush will fly to Brussels on February 22 for Nato and EU summit talks. German officials said he would then fly to Britain where he would meet both Tony Blair and the French president, Jacques Chirac, before flying to Germany.

They said Mr Bush would not visit Berlin because of the likelihood of huge anti-war demonstrations. Instead, he would meet Chancellor Gerhard Schröder in another town, yet to be announced.

The visit appears to mark a breakthrough in US-German relations after a long period of enmity. Mr Bush last visited Germany in May 2002, but, months later, the two sides fell out when Mr Schröder criticised the US decision to invade Iraq.

2. Can't announce the town before the clear all the people out...
...somewhere outside Berlin, there's a sleepy but mostly corporate park kinda town that's about to be turned upside down.

Just so Georgie and his host can have a nice quiet chat and photo-op.

Yuck.

50. Just found this: George W. Bush: Wanted for crimes against
Humanity and the Planet

On 22nd February 2005, George W. Bush will visit Brussels
Join us to protest against Bush's crimes against humanity and the planet
Monday 21st February: 17:00 at United States Embassy, Brussels
Tueday 22nd February: Protest, Brussels, (time and location to be announced)

To mark the visit of George W. Bush to Brussels in February 2005, peace, environmental and human rights organisations will be organising nonviolent protests against the criminal unilateral policies of the US President. President Bush has shown during his first term in office that he represents the single greatest threat to humanity.

In many areas of policy, Bush has chosen a unilateral direction, with the International Criminal Court, the Kyoto Protocol and the war in Iraq as the most obvious examples. President Bush is coming to Brussels in order to rebuild the links with the EU and NATO. This is not an option as along as the United States continues it's current policies. We do not want Europe to be involved in this criminal activity!

On many levels, United States policy represents a great danger to the planet:
Disarmament (development of new nuclear weapons; Iraq; Landmine treaty; new nuclear tests;...)
Human Rights (International Criminal Court; torture in prisons; attacks on civil rights in the United States, ...)
Environment (Kyoto Protocol; WTO dispute on use of GMO's, ...)

Protests are planned on Monday 21st February at 5pm in front of the United States embassy in Brussels. During the visit, on Tuesday 22nd February, a colourful protest will take place in Brussels. The time and location will be announced later. A number of groups continue to call for an economic boycott of selected US products in opposition to Bush's policies.

The following organisations are taking the initiative in calling for these protests: For Mother Earth, Vrede vzw, Bond Beter Leefmilieu, Greenpeace, Stop USA, CNAPD and Forum voor Vredesactie. They expect many more organisations to join the call for nonviolent protests in the coming months.

A new website has been launched to spread information about the protests:

10. not Berlin -- another town? Perhaps one of Hitlers hiding holes?
Up on a mountain -- arrival via a fleet of 'copters and jet escorts. He should just sneak in some place remote -- and then sneak out of town just like a thief.

If Germans do show up to protest -- Rovie will tell him he is so popular and I'll bet the dumb shit will believe the lie. The idiot is living in his own reality.

My German friends can see Hitler in bushie -- some of my elderly German friends can't bare to see him -- they see Hitler mannerisms -- they say he struts now worse than ever. I'll take their word on his behavior -- I can't stand to watch bush without feeling the need to throw up.

Why doesn't bushie just go to his pig farm and stay there?

60. I bet it's not Heidelberg
Heidelberg is located in the neighborhood of many cities with 200k-500k inhabitants and mainly liberal universities (Frankfurt, Darmstadt, Mannheim, Ludwigshafen etc).
Although Heidelberg itself is considered a relatively conservative city, it would be easy to organize huge demonstrations against Bush.
If he nethertheless decides to meet with Schröder in Heidelberg, i'll be there :)

48. We'll see
However at the moment the grapevine says that it'll be a southern town and that want to completely seal it off.
Probably Heidelberg, because of the nearby US Army camps, but Meissen and Rothenburg are also mentioned frequently. I'd say 90% probability that it'll be one of those three towns.

Meissen, I'd consider driving to, but not to Rothenburg or Heidelberg.

This man and his ilk have created the greatest streak of "anti-Americanism", not only outside this country BUT WITHIN IT, as well,...than any former leadership, ever,...other than you know who.

He is the leader of a radical element of people who now feel completely comfortable in debasing and condemning and demonizing their fellow Americans,...anti-Americanism at its height,...within our own country.

And I'll greet him in Brussels, too. What irks me about this is the hundreds of thousands of Euros the German tax payer has to come up with for *s security. 34. He might go to Frankfurt...
According to government sources, Bush won't come to Berlin. He will instead visit a place of "symbolic meaning", very likely in the eastern part of Germany.

The US administration named Frankfurt (Oder) - near Berlin and not to mix up with the banking city in Hesse - as their favourite destination. The place is very close to the Polish border and therefore highly symbolic: Poland's admission to the European Union was celebrated there this May.

The town is also ideal for their purposes. Most people who want to go there will have to pass Berlin. So by controlling the automobile and railroad traffic from Berlin, Frankfurt can easily be shut off from the rest of the republic.
