China rules on religion 'relaxed'
China has announced new rules on religious groups which it says will end discrimination on grounds of belief.

The state-run Xinhua news agency says the rules are designed to keep up with "rapid socio-economic development".

This transformation has sparked a flurry of religious activity, which human rights groups have accused the Chinese authorities of repressing.

But analysts say the wording of the new rules suggest no change in policy in what is officially an atheist country.

1. Good now if they'd get the fuck out of Tibet they'd mean what they say.

3. I don't think most people in Tibet would want that to happen.
I think that the steady economic development in Tibet will wear down anti-China sentiment there. Many Tibetans are happy that slavery and feudalism have been abolished, and replaced by a far more humane social system. There is nothing progressive or good about the slave-caste theocracy that prevailed there until 1959.

4. bullshit on your tibetan understanding
Show me some links on tibetan slavery from before 1959. I have read
quite many accounts of a genocide of the tibetan people by the PLA.

There was nothing good about the chinese subjugation of tibet, and
shifting in millions of han chinese to take over, so that people like
you can say "most people".

It is no longer realistic to expect tibet to be separated from china,
but that said, there is nothing progressive about a brutal occupation.

7. yes, indeed
No need to mention the chimp. He's a bit southwest of tibet in his
own mess. It seems to be registered a man in any dynastic society
of evil men, one must invade central asia and kill as many people
as possible. It seems this one vision unites the world's evil
militarists, from hitler, to mao, to bush, napoleon, tojo, alexander
and the mongolian khans of the past.

10. True, but I don't think it's limited to one continent. In my humble
opinion on the character of men, I think stronger will
always try to conqueror the weaker. Right up until
the strong squander their strength and then they are now
one of the weaker ones. Ah, the circle of life.

8. Go watch Cry of the Snow Lion
The similarities of our own evil occupation are astounding.

The Dalai Lama will accept the Chinese military and the annexation of the Autonomous region, if the torture is ended and the freedom to practice their religion is restored.

6. You have NO clue what you are talking about...
You obviously need to read some more about it. Tibetans didn't believe they were opressed. A HUMANE system? Try replaced with torture, death and no freedom with practice their religion.

These cattle prods are used by the PLA in the vaginas of Tibetan nuns, now that sounds like they are happy, doesn't it.

11. I understand what you're talking about. China is bad on human rights.
China's criminal justice system is very harsh. They are number one, to our number five, for executions. I like Tibetan Buddhism. I've enjoyed listening to lectures on Buddhism. I would like to see self determination, and respect for human rights in all occupied territories. However, I don't want to make war on China for the sake of Tibet. What would Buddha do?
