Taxpayer dollars may have paid Kerik's wedding security

The storm over Bernard Kerik's aborted homeland-security nomination is still shaking the city jail system, with city officials now reviewing time records of an elite Rikers Island response unit on the 1998 wedding day of then-corrections commissioner Kerik.

The records and documents are being located and collected dating to 1998 and before. City spokesmen from the correction and investigation departments declined Sunday night to discuss details or even say if a systematic probe is under way.

Records reportedly under review include the filing of overtime by corrections department emergency-service unit personnel for Nov. 1, 1998, the date of Kerik's wedding. Several unit members reportedly attended the New Jersey event, sources said

News of the review comes amid revelations that some Kerik advisers reportedly avoided paying federal taxes using a controversial claim of 99 exemptions. About 100 department employees who used similar exemptions were prosecuted or fired in the late 1990's. Others, including at least two close to Kerik, were not disciplined.

All politicians are corrupt, whether * or clinton or kerry, et al. So why should they really, deeply, care if there was voting fraud - they will just shrug it off as business as usual and wait until next election.
