23. Maybe they sampled people who give a damn about our soldiers
Sorry to see it's only 47% that realize they are dying for nothing.

INFANTRY VET

How many will die this time around for rich men's profits? How many Americans foolishly think America can rule the world? How many flag-waving "patriots" are flocking to the recruiter's office?

11. This is interesting:
Why in the world would that many people disapprove of the situation in Iraq (notice it says "situation" in Iraq, not war in Iraq) abd then have a 53% approval rating on the "US campaign against terrorism?" What does the US campaign against terrorism involve? As far as I know ports STILL aren't checked and don't have the level of security they should have and that's just one item! And do none of these people connect the fact that the war in Iraq is CREATING more terrorists to this item? Sheesh.

Approve Disapprove No op.

b. The situation in Iraq 42 57 1
c. The US campaign against terrorism 53 43 3
d. Social Security 38 52 9

12. this makes no sense
Why did people vote for him then?

Was Kerry that much of a weak candidate? Or did people not see much of a difference?

I would think the war in Iraq, should have been the primary focus in the campaign. I think it a huge mistake that Kerry/Edwards voted for the IWR, since obviously many are so repulsed by the Iraq war. I think those who voted for him knew all about the lies, but saw, virtually, no difference, or no difference that was articulated clearly.

18. I talked to a guy...
who told me he voted for Bush because 'he's the one who got us into this mess, so he's the one that needs to clean it up again." He was no fan of Bush and seemed to think that he was voting for him to teach him a lesson or something. Naturally I didn't agree with his logic, but knowing that there are people out there who think this way might explain some of the weird numbers.

17. Inconstant voters or vote fraud?
A poll like this would be the basis for overturning an election in the Ukraine.

Although there were a few inconsistencies, there seemed to be a fairly small but steady preponderance of people who dislike Bush and his policy over those that like him. What gives?

31. Do you approve/disapprove of his handling his job as president (sic)?
Strongly approve, 27%
Strongly disapprove, 38%

Somewhat approve, 21%
Somewhat disapprove, 12%

Net approve, 48%
Net disapprove, 49%

That tells you all you need to know. Riding high on his so-called mandate, it's obvious the man is a loser.

Does anyone have access to prior post-election poll results for job approval for second-term presidents? How about Clinton?

38. "randomly selected adults", not voters
That's the difference. In looking at the exit polls, it seems to me wealthier people voted in higher proportion than they exist in the population. They're Bush voters. I need to run the numbers, but I suspect if lower income voters had voted, it really would have been a Kerry landslide.

. . .answers #4 in the affirmative? No matter the goals, dead americans should NEVER be acceptable. Especially in this case where the causes and goals have changed 4 times.

I'll bet not one person in the sample who said the deaths of our soldiers in Iraq was acceptable has a family member over there.
