Allawi Says Rebels in Iraq Seek Civil War
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Iraq (news - web sites)'s interim prime minister warned Monday that insurgents are trying to foment sectarian civil war as well as derail elections, while thousands of mourners turned out for funerals in the Shiite holy cities of Najaf and Karbala a day after car bombs killed 67 people.

Also Monday, five U.S. soldiers and one Iraqi civilian were injured in a car bomb explosion north of Baghdad, the military said Tuesday.

Prime Minister Ayad Allawi said the mainly Sunni Muslim insurgents, blamed for Sunday's bloody attacks, want to "create ethnic and religious tensions, problems and conflicts ... to destroy the unity of this country."

"These attacks are designed to stop the political process from taking place in Iraq," Allawi told reporters. He added that his administration would not be deterred despite expecting more strikes before key Jan. 30 parliamentary elections — the first free vote in Iraq since the overthrow of the monarchy in 1958.

1. "Seek civil war"? My God, what are they having now?
"Destroy the unity of this country"? I thought pretty much the only unity there ever was was the iron grip the Baathists had on everything - and the common hate for foreign invaders.

But we have it from an expert: "Little shops are opening up even if indiscriminate bombing kills thousands or hundreds of innocents... "there IS progress :puke:

2. first free vote in Iraq since 1958. US media says Jan 05 "HISTORIC"
Sure wish the US Stenomedia would bother, JUST ONCE EVEN, doing some FACT-CHECKING before they rah rah rah for their bush-god.

The "elections" next month -if they happen at all- ARE NOT "HISTORIC". Iraq HAS had free elections in the past.

No bloody wonder 60% of bush supporters are so incredibly and totally ignorant of FACTS; with the crap media we have, it's amazing not ALL Americans are as ignorant as the 60%!

Allawi is nothing but a bushlicking former CIA-paid terrorist who hasn't lived in Iraq for years.

Allawi's also a TOTAL LIAR; hey Allawi, how's the "can attack in 45 minutes" claim of yours coming along?

Just wondering.

4. The puppet leader said that? The US gave Iraq the civil war...
Many hated Saddam. Many were loyal. Have a 3rd party meddle on a grand scale and then actively pit one side against the other.

How dare the US (via the muppet leader) blame the 'rebels'. That is not fair, nor correct.
