Blair on surprise Baghdad visit
21 December, 2004

UK Prime Minister Tony Blair has arrived in Baghdad on a surprise trip to the Iraqi capital.

He has visited Basra, where UK troops are stationed, but never US-controlled Baghdad, which has been hit by some the worst insurgency attacks since the war.

Mr Blair hopes to reinforce the preparations for Iraqi elections which are scheduled for 30 January.

<snip>

Afterwards, Mr Blair' is expected to hold meetings with both sides in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict before heading to a holiday resort in the region for a Christmas vacation.

Blair is amusing. He says the Iraqi people don't need a leader who kills 100,000? Hello! Hello!

10. If their war was such a huge success and so just
then they wouldn't have to sneak in and out of the country under ultra tight security.
