Bin Laden tape is old material - French expert
Edited on Thu Sep-11-03 09:29 AM by NNN0LHI
I find it odd that our own CIA could not figure this out? Boo! Don

PARIS, Sept 11 (Reuters) - A leading French terrorism expert cautioned on Thursday against taking the latest Osama bin Laden video at face value, saying it was largely an edited collection of old footage and sound tracks that have already been aired. snip

But Roland Jacquard, head of the Paris-based International Observatory on Terrorism, told French radio that the tape was above all a show of defiance on the eve of the September 11 anniversary by al Qaeda number two al-Zawahri.

"We have to be extremely prudent about this message," Jacquard told Europe 1 radio.

"Given that Osama bin Laden has not appeared on a video cassette for many months it's pretty incomprehensible that in the only video cassette where he appears beside Ayman al-Zawahri he doesn't speak, he just allows the latter to speak.

"The voice of bin Laden we hear in the background, thanking the World Trade Center plane hijackers, is exactly the same message that was broadcast in a video cassette by Al Jazeera on 26 December 2001," he said.

2. I would not trust it if the US said it but the French may be right
maybe Zawahiri is trying desperately hard to keep Bin Ladin's image alive as he directs the new Al Qaeda. Better than "Do it for Osama, brothers".

4. I usually think that way
but we should remember that there are factions in every country that may be suspect. I'm not familiar with this particular Frenchman or his politics.

There seem to be enough specifics about the opinion to give some weight.

6. I don't know about Jacquard's politics
I'd guess, from seeing him interviewed several times on TV, that he is probably a leftist. More importantly, though, he's an officially recognized terrorism expert vis-à-vis the UN Security Council and the Council of Europe.

The agency he directs--l'Observatoire International du Terrorisme et le Centre d’Etudes des Menaces Contemporaines--is a state-funded watchdog agency and research center. (I don't believe they have a website.)

3. Well!
And it came at such an opportune time for Jr. -Showed up just as Maria Inojosa on CNN was reporting that New Yorkers believed that Bush and Cheney both bailed on the memorials because they knew they would be booed.

Maria just had time to say there had been no response from the WH on the allegations...then came some scary old Osama footage.

5. This highlights the need for better editors in US Disinfo services

As if the Fat Osama and Al Qaeda Hurts Puppies tapes were not embarrassing enough!

Why isn't Washington doing more to recruit more highly skilled video editors?

The poor and amateurish quality of US propaganda offerings is an international scandal!

7. BinLaden taped by bushie regime....background same as old
Red Ink Raygun bad westerns. Compare BinForgotten's old nose to the new; he has a white guy's nose and not a mid-easterner larger nose.

BinForgotten is out hiking the hills of Woodland Hills, Ca. Maybe produced to ahhnold.

8. We'd have beetter luck finding
Bin Laden with a seance since they believe everything else that crops up to prove the bogeyman head of "Islamicists for Bush" is there to herd Americans into the fold of tyranny.

What justification AT ALL does the Amercian media in particular have for calling itself a "news service"? Where is the in depth expert study of the tapes? What? Only the CIA can do that and its experts are mumbling, occasionally leaking ecouragement to give credit to this idiotic attempt to craft old tapes around a corpse?

The same blah disregard or incuriosity about ANY issue of importance typifies the slop that washes over the buried head of the American ostrich.

Why should I have confidence in this or that regarding the "secret successes" of our intel guys? The community is split. ALQaeda on the ropes. AlQaeda insurgent. Both contradicting positions of immense political value even if mutally exclusive. No information is forthcoming- now or ever. Little is done to pacify the breeding potential for terrorism except to slaughter innocents by the thousands and invade oil nations.

They can't even do a voice analysis. I guess the experts are hanging around bars by the hundreds worldwide, despondent they can't get anyone to care. Meanwhile some PNAC politico schmoe decides whether he wants you to believe the cave pizza resurrection of Bin Laden is real- without a single rational or inquisitive challenge.

Not a squeek. Not a whimper. Not a spark of dim light. THAT is the missing presence we'd really like to hear from. The so-called fourth estate. MIA. Missing in America.

9. Indiana Green was right! bin Laden is and has been dead for a long time
Edited on Thu Sep-11-03 10:39 AM by NNN0LHI
More than likely Clinton took him out in 1998 with the air strike. As many have said before, if there was no bin Laden the CIA would have had to invent one. And they did too. Its all smoke and mirrors to cover for Bush and his cabal of criminals as they have and continue to loot our treasury my fellow Americans. One does not steal an election for honorable reasons. We have all been sold a bill of goods by old man Bush's CIA. Your rational thinking are belong to me.

12. It really does not even matter in Osama ever existed
Nor Saddam for that matter.

It is the image of the two that is valuable for both sides in the conflict.

13. We probably have
Bin laden and Sadaam both locked away just waiting for the right time to bring out with throat cut, Bush going below 50 is a time you may see one of them show up dead, the other will be 4-5 weeks before election.

14. what I saw

two old men walking down a steep, rocky hill (and doing it quite well), at the bottom taking a sit down and then climbing up another steep, rocky hill. Both dressed the same, holding the same kind of walking stick.

didn't seem like the kind of photo op Osama usually has. would he take the time to film him walking down and up hills - for what purpose?
