Bush shows caution about plunging into Mideast peacemaking
WASHINGTON -- President Bush called for realism and took the long view Monday on Mideast peacemaking and development of democracy among Palestinians.

Bush welcomed efforts by British Prime Minister Tony Blair to travel to the region this week and make plans for a conference to help develop a Palestinian state.

But he did not commit the United States to attend. Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said "we will not participate, but we understand its importance."

Meanwhile, on Capitol Hill, Sens. Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut and Mark Dayton of Minnesota, announced plans to travel to the area. The two Democrats will visit Israel, Jordan and Iraq.

6. Oh the irony - let's not rush into peacemaking...
Warmaking is a different matter entirely - procede with haste...

7. Who the hell does he think he is
he doesn't know the meaning of democracy. That is just for the little people to believe in.

How on earth could this fool think he can establish a democracy anywhere, given his failures in Afganistan and Iraq? He is indeed a sick and delusional prick.

8. In other words
my policy of ignoring the problems - and letting the area continue to burn - will continue.
