Iraq's unsecured ammo dumps providing explosives for insurgency

BY JIM LANDERS
The Dallas Morning News

WASHINGTON - (KRT) - Twenty-one months after the war in Iraq began, the U.S. military is still struggling to secure Iraqi ammo dumps - and more arms caches are discovered every week.

The dumps are rifled by insurgents for explosives used in the improvised roadside and suicide bomb attacks that are causing most of the war's casualties.

Tuesday's devastating attack of a mess hall tent in Mosul highlights the concerns over the abundance of explosives in Iraq. After initial speculation that the blast was caused by a rocket or mortar, military officials Wednesday said a suicide bomber was likely to blame.

U.S. efforts to secure Iraqi munitions stockpiles began in earnest in September 2003. But by then, looters had picked over many of the ammo dumps.

1. Shinseki: We don't have enough troops
Rumsfeld: We got plenty of troops.

Puzzle: Who is still working for the corrupt Bush administration, now that it appears we didn't have enough troops when Lil George's war hardon blew its load?

10. The only times Bush or Rumsfeld have said more troops are needed ...
... is for the inauguration circle jerks. Why not just send half of the uniformed and armed personnel, whether military or police, from the inauguration over to Iraq to help out?

2. What insurgency? They're terr a wrists!
And we gotta attack them there before they attack us here!

Anyway, isn't looting illegal in Iraq?

So that makes them terr a wrists and looters! Two strikes against them! Lets send lots of innocent young Americans there to strike em out! And if they wanna keep doing that bad stuff I say to them "Bring it on!"

4. Secure the ammo dumps!
Maybe if we'd gone in with an actual international coalition we could've managed what seems, I dunno, kind of basic. "Keep the explosives out of the wrong hands."

8. Wrong
Abandoned, unguarded explosives don't kill people. Insurgents with abandoned, unguarded munitions kill people.

5. Translated to Rumsfeldian
"You get blown up by the Iraqis you leave explosives unguarded from, not the Iraqis you wish would throw flowers."

15. Yes--- It will get very DRAFTY ---VERY SOON
The biggest lie told by the CHIMPANZEE-- was no draft in his term.

He's salivating for another 9-11 to deliver the goods to his NeoCon corporate masters. (war profits)

He'd love to see his power grow with a 2 or 3 milion man army.

7. Some goons in the pentagon had a press conference before the
election and claimed that none of this happened. It would be unamerican and unpatriotic to question their claim.

9. With Rumsfeld in charge many more will die because of his personality
disorders, and his failure to listen to others that know more than he dares to admit. Rumsfeld is good at covering up mistakes and telling lies.

12. UN publicly warned bush the US would need to secure all ammo dump sites.
As usual, bush ignored the EXPERTS.

Which lead to a total fuck-up and KILLED PEOPLE.

And as usual bush will take no responsibility whatsoever.

14. there was a great quote in the
Whoreshington Post yesterday:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A15644-2004Dec21_4.html

excerpt:

I vividly recall one of Bush's most popular stump speech lines from the 2000 election: "My job will be to usher in the responsibility era, a culture that will stand in stark contrast to the last few decades, which has clearly said to America: If it feels good, do it. And if you've got a problem, blame somebody else."
