Fighting Erupts in Fallujah as Refugees Return (Unknown # of Marines dead)
http://ap.tbo.com/ap/breaking/MGBJTDS133E.html

FALLUJAH, Iraq (AP) - U.S. Marines battled insurgents in Fallujah on Thursday with warplanes dropping bombs and tanks shelling suspected guerrilla positions, causing deaths on both sides, as the first 200 residents returned to the battered city.

The fighting comes as the U.S. military began re-examining security measures at bases across Iraq. On Wednesday, top Pentagon officials admitted that an attack that killed 22 people - mostly Americans - at a camp near Mosul was likely carried out by a suicide bomber who infiltrated the camp's dining tent as soldiers ate lunch.

In Fallujah, U.S. F-18 fighter-bombers were seen striking at targets in the city's outskirts. Tank and artillery fire was also heard.

Officials said U.S. Marines were killed but would not specify the number. Several insurgents were also killed, they said.

6. We must be using "smart bombs" or something
to only kill insurgents and not the innocent bystanders.

I've never heard the definition of an insurgent, either. I guess I would have to be an insurgent, too, if someone attacked my country, my family, my home and everything I hold dear in life.

Unfortunately one of them darned ol' insurgents covered up "anything that moves" with the "insurgents" sticker, so the bombs get confused.

32. Dubya is a mentally ill individual who ,
if he didn't have his daddy's name and connections, would be in an institution for the criminally insane. And yet, here he is, the leader(sic) of the free world.

Would Jeffrey Dahmer or Ted Bundy be turned loose in a community without supervision?? Of course not!

And yet Bush is allowed to make decisions that impact the entire planet, based on his paranoid delusions.

What many here describe as a visceral loathing when viewing Bush on TV, is IMO, an intuitive understanding of how dangerous he is. In any other context, our survival instincts would be telling us to get the hell away from this person immediately.

As we are more or less stuck with him at present, this is bound to stir up extreme anxiety in those who are fairly functional and mentally healthy.

This is straight-up serious. It's not hyperbole. We have a madman at the helm. I know I'm preaching to the choir, here. But the pod people need to understand that their leader is a mental case or we're all doomed.

just before Christmas, now can we? :eyes:

And that 22 number has to be a typo. Didn't the Pentagon admit to 19 American soldiers, 6 Iraqis, and 7 Halliburton/KBR employees? That's 32. Unless of course we've started using fuzzy math and I didn't hear about it.

God I hate these people. More and more I hope that the Hell I was taught about growing up in Baptist churches really does exist, just so that members of this administration can get their eternal retribution.

Seriously, I want the retribution to come in THIS life. I wantto see them displayed publicly in open cages with world wide television 24/7, so that parents the world over can point them out to their children as the examples of the true evil that exists in this world.

But that wouldn't compare to an eternity of punishment, now would it? But I didn't say we couldn't seek both! I've not had much reason in my lifetime to be very proud of my German heritage. But if they really do indict Rumsfield and then go after the rest, I just might have to start playing Wagner!

I'm just not so certain that this family will ever have their evil exposed on this Earth. Hopefully I'll be proved wrong. Happens quite frequently, ya know!

In an earlier story -- only the "heads of households" were to be allowed back in. To me that means males -- so the males of military age that were missed the first time are these the "insurgents" the Marines are now killing?

this is the cowardly guy that lives for revenge and sadistic revenge is his most prized method of dealing with anyone who puts him to some shame like that attack on the dining tent.

200 were lured back in to try to pick up the debris in their homes, and put their lives into some kind of something that makes sense, and then the place was again attacked and bombed by the American bombers, tanks etc.

People must be living now, if any of them are left, in the holes in the ground, for sure there are no buildings left.

13. I read an article just yesterday
Stating that the US military, for all its strength and power could not take and hold Fallujah.

When taken into context that this military can generate the most power per square foot on the entire planet - and cannot even take and hold one city in Iraq speaks volumes. The insurgency is winning and the US has lost its edge.

Guess the simple fact that they are still bombing Fallujah means that it is NOT taken by the US. The article stated that there is a media blackout in this regard; that the US has had to withdraw to the outskirts of the city and are barely, just barely holding on. The insurgents rule the city - operate within their discretion and strike at will.

Two US helicopters collided with each other and crashed

Apache helicopters collided on Tuesday

A third US Apache helicopter was shot down over the az-

and according to the eyewitnesses, US forces rushed to
accuse the al-Bu Namir tribe that lives in the area of az-
Zawiyah of being responsible for the crash of the US
aircraft. American troops arrested the Shaykh of the al-Bu
Namir tribe, Khallas al-Qa‘‘ud along with his two
sons Muhammad and Ziyad. Their arrest followed that of
the Shaykh’s brother, Sattam al- Qa‘‘ud on charges of
giving financial support to the Iraqi

that the truck bomb destroyed and razed a solid concrete building , not a tent:

"Neither such attacks would have produced the type
of destruction wrought to the solid concrete building that
was totally razed on Tuesday when a martyrdom fighter drove
a 12-ton Mercedes truck loaded with explosives into the
building and blew it up."

The puppet official disclosed that the truck (12TMercedes,
think Beirut)used in the Resistance bombing of the US base
on Tuesday had
been stolen from a government bureau in Mosul several
days before the attack.

19. Son died in Iraq, dad called to go to Iraq
Edited on Thu Dec-23-04 10:43 AM by marew
On CNN yesterday there was a story about a family in GA. Their son died almost a year ago in Iraq. Now the 47 year old father in the local guard has been called up to go to Iraq and will be leaving almost on the anniversary of their son's death. Of course, his wife is frantic. She said she absolutely cannot cope with another loss. They showed their home and they are obviously not wealthy. How can they do this to this family who are already in such pain? Bush is a monster. Remember he blew up frogs with firecrackers as a kid. He is so sick. The loss and pain so many Americans and so many others have suffered means nothing to him. He wanted to be a wartime president. Well, he created it. I just hope karma exists. And Rummy...have you ever seen anyone get so excited talking about war? The only one at the top of this administration who'd even been in the military was Powell and he's gone. I don't buy what Rummy said yesterday at all. Bush and Rummy are both war criminals. Everyone who voted for Bush has blood on their hands.

Resistance knocks out US supply train in ar-Ramadi, seizing valuable weapons.

Iraqi Resistance forces detonated multiple bombs under
the tracks of a supply train hauling provisions for US troops
west of ar-Ramadi. After the initial bombing, that destroyed
the seven cars of the train, the Resistance then attacked to
wipe out the remaining Americans who had not been killed
by the bombs.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that
42 American troops were killed in the attack. Resistance
fighters also seized valuable weapons and ammunition that
had been packed aboard three of the train cars. In
accordance with a communiqué issued by the Firs(t) Army
of Muhammad Resistance organization, the Mafkarat al-
Islam correspondent reported that no Resistance fighters
were killed in the attack, though one Iraqi driver was
killed.

47. Thanx for this article TexanDem
Formica, an artillery commander, has already
investigated detention practices by special forces in
Iraq, including allegations of torture and mistreatment
of prisoners linked to the Abu Ghraib abuses
scandal.

-We saw the great job Formica did. Rummy
could be arrested if he ever steps foot into
Germany

in light of the bomber's success in apparently slipping into
the camp and entering a tent crowded with soldiers eating
lunch Tuesday.

Here’s what they don’t want you to know: the Iraqi resistance
has evolved to the point where it can breach security at a
major U.S. military base with a 12-ton truck packed
with explosives and kill dozens of Americans. It can target
Green zone checkpoints with car bombs and mortars, and
even brazenly hand-carry bombs into the most fortified section
of Baghdad.

And further-The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported
that the attack took place at 1pm Thursday and that
the Resistance hit the Chinook with a Strela rocket.
The helicopter was transporting more than 40 troops,
intended to serve as replacements for the US troops killed in
the martyrdom bombing of the US base in
Mosul.

A communiqué issued by the Brigades of Tal‘afar took credit
for the downing of the helicopter in a farm field, saying that
the aircraft burned up in the farm field, setting the area around
it ablaze as well as a result of the intensity of the
explosion.

39. US forces clash with fighters in Falluja
http://english.aljazeera.net/HomePage

Are these the same three marines that were reported dead earlier?

The US military announced that three US marines had been killed in the Al-Anbar province while conducting security operations.

"We did have three marines killed in action in the Al-Anbar province today," spokesman Lyle Gilbert said. "They were conducting security and stabilisation operations."

Fallujans felt they had no other choice but to brave the insecurity and return to their homes.

Speaking to Aljazeera from the outskirts of Falluja's al-Andalus entrance, Abd Allah Mahmud al-Issawi, said: "Displaced families gathered at the entrances to enter the city - not because they like coming back to their demolished homes but escaping from the cold weather, hunger, shortage of water, food and services they have been suffering from."

He said they had suffered in the makeshift tents, structures, schools, and government buildings in the vicinity of the city, where they were forced to stay for the past six weeks.

Al-Issawi also said US soldiers had distributed printed instructions which returning residents had to abide by while in the battered city.
