Russia test fires nuclear missile
http://www.swissinfo.org/sen/swissinfo.html?siteSect=143&sid=5427720

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia has successfully test-fired a mobile version of the intercontinental Topol-M ballistic missile in the last of
four test-firings before its deployment next year, Interfax news agency has reported.

Known as Russia's most sophisticated nuclear missile, it can be fitted with a single or multiple warheads and hit targets more than
10,000 km (6,200 miles) away.

The firing was part of President Vladimir Putin's plan to turn Russia, whose Soviet-era missile arsenal needs serious renewal and
financing, into a major global military and nuclear power.

Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov, who supervised Friday's firing from a mobile launch pad in Plesetsk in Arctic Russia, said its
financing would start early next year.

4. I'm sure our wonder trillion dollar defense missle shield will protect
us from all these threats of missles - not.

I wonder if we the people can strike a deal with the rest of the world to turn our treasonous congress and executive branch over to them for trial. Then we can start anew.

9. nuclear test ban treaty?
Doesn't this violate the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty that Reagan negotiated with Gorbachev? Does anyone know the current status of arms treaties between the US and Russia?

10. King George II withdrew from it.
After all it is hard for the world to end in 2012 if there is a treaty that bans new nuclear missiles and all the old ones are shitty and in disrepair.

11. Do you mean like the "quaint" Geneva Conventions we used to abide by?
I think you can forget the treaties from here on out from all sides unfortunately.

13. that was nullified in November 2001

excerpt:

By November, the Bush administration's disdain for humanity became obvious when it forced a vote in the UN Committee on Disarmament and Security to demonstrate its opposition to the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty. This Treaty was signed by 164 nations and ratified by 89, including France, Great Britain and Russia. Continuing on in December, the US Senate again added an amendment to a military appropriation bill that would keep US military personnel from obeying the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Treaty, which would be to set up in The Hague to try political leaders and military personnel charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity. The ICC was signed in Rome in 1998 and approved by 120 countries, with seven opposed (including the US).

Also, in December, the United States officially withdrew from the 1972 Antiballistic Missile Treaty (ABM), gutting the landmark agreement. This is the first time in the nuclear era that the United States has renounced a major arms control accord. Cold Wars are no longer in vogue, it would appear that we like ours hot.

14. Thanks for the reminder
I remember now. The Bush administration has made so many appalling moves that I've developed a disassociate memory disorder where they are concerned. It's all so awful.
Here we see the implications of withdrawing from international treaties. It has the potential of undermining our own national security. The Pentagon will no doubt use this is justify even more big weapons programs while they ignore the basics for soldiers on the ground.

16. Apparently since the weed doesn't like treaties, then Putin feels
that he doesn't have to worry with them either.

After the terrorist attack at that school over their, Putin suspected that the USA (CIA) had some involvement in it or was backing and sponsoring the terrorists. Putin was very vocal in his anger and reminded the emperor with no clothes that Russia has nuclear weapons. He told the little shit that he better stop interfering with their business.

See, the weed is not only responsible for an immoral and illegal war, but for reactivating the cold war! St. Raygun always hated the BFEE.

19. Wonder why Putin would suspect the US/CIA is funding terrorism in Russia?
Oh, thats right. The US/CIA funded Osama bin Laden and his crew to terrorize the Soviets in Afghanistan during the 1980's. It all makes sense now.
