YMCA Chief Fired for Transgender Ball Flap

CHICAGO (AP) - A YMCA director has been fired and overnight facility rentals banned after the parents of young children arriving for a morning swim meet clashed with participants in an overnight transgender fashion show and ball.

Greg Weider, who had been acting director of the New City YMCA for two years, was fired Wednesday. Programming manager Michael Horton, who oversaw scheduling at the center, resigned two days earlier.

"We've taken very swift, decisive action, and we will do everything we can in order to restore the integrity of our organization for those that we serve," said Steven Dahlin, executive vice president and chief operating officer of the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago.

Authorities said a YMCA member had reserved the entire facility from 11 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday for the fashion show and ball. The YMCA rented out the rooms, although families were scheduled to arrive at 7 a.m to use some of the same rooms for a swim meet.

it appears this is a coverall term for any variation. According to the material we received at work, it even covers people who have never exhibited any out ward signs whatsoever but sometimes feel uncomfortable with their established gender role. Sometimes, maybe.

Maybe just a matter of tucking, but I would have expected orchectomy to preclude "balls" showing up at the YMCA

these directors would not have been fired or forced to resign.

NOBODY would have cared if the directors had overlapped schedules of the the swim-meet and a traditional-beauty-queen contest. What if it has been a scheduling conflict for an overnight cheerleaders' competition? Would anyone be THIS upset?

This strong reaction is only because those HORRID mentally ill, transgendered FREAKS OF NATURE were permitted access to the YMCA :eyes: and because the overwrought parents couldn't cope with the fact that their children might have gazed upon one of these CHILD MOLESTING PERVERTS, or possibly have been RECRUITED. Gasp! :eyes:

But... considering what the "C" stands for in YMCA... I'm suppose I ought not be surprised. Although I am surprised that the transgendered organization chose the YMCA for their event... OR that the YMCA director would be permitted to approve such an event.

Too bad he was forced to leave his job over this.

12. Actually I kinda agree with you

If it wasnt transgendered it probably wouldnt get this reaction. I read other reports that the parents were actually mad about the used condoms (two apparently) that were found in the locker room. Who knows. If it had been a cheerleader thing probably no big deal. If it had been some sort of regular beauty pageant it might have been even more of a stink.
