Bush Spending Last Week of 2004 in Texas
CRAWFORD, Texas - President Bush (news - web sites) began his post-Christmas vacation Sunday contemplating a hefty second-term agenda on both global and domestic fronts, including expectations of continued violence against U.S. troops in Iraq (news - web sites).

"This week is going to be about thinking about what he wants to tell the American people for the inauguration speech as well as the State of the Union," Deputy White House Press Secretary Trent Duffy told reporters.
...
The president and Mrs. Bush were accompanied to Texas by the first lady's mother, Jenna Welch.

Earlier at Andrews, the president had trouble convincing the family dog, Barney, to board the presidential jet. Barney strode toward the terminal building, causing Bush to walk across the tarmac, scoop him up and carry him to the steps of the Air Force One.

Then, despite a few presidential pats on his rear, Barney refused to climb the stairs, forcing the president to pick him up again and carry him aboard.

1. Barney is perhaps the only member of the Bush administration...
...with any dignity left.

3. I want a post-Christmas vacation
I suppose I could have stayed home, but then I wouldn't get paid.

Poor Barney, he keeps trying to escape!

5. It's way different than his PRE-Christmas vacation
Or his pre and post early December vacations. He's just resting up for his pre-New Year's time off :D

6. "contemplating" and "thinking?" I don't believe that for a second.
Whatever he does at his stage-prop home in Crawford, I doubt it involves contemplating or thinking. All evidence (his unscripted speaking, for example) points to a man incapable of contemplating or thinking.

9. brush clearing, mind clearing, whatever...
since he doesn't DO anything it doesn't matter where or how long he vacations. his minions are writing his inaguration speech.

4 years is a long time to pretend there's no president.

11. I think the next 4 years will be one long vacation
for *. This "hefty agenda" he promises will involve very little of his time. Trot him out once a week to describe what 'hard work' it is and the wonderful progress they're making, then it's back to the phony ranch and more tv and pretzels.
