Ohio Official Refuses Interview Over Vote
Monday December 27, 2004 11:46 PM

By ANDREW WELSH-HUGGINS

AP Statehouse Correspondent

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell has requested a protective order to prevent him from being interviewed as part of an unusual court challenge of the presidential vote.

Blackwell, in a court filing, says he's not required to be interviewed by lawyers as a high-ranking public official, and accused the voters challenging the results of ``frivolous conduct'' and abusive and unnecessary requests of elections officials around the state.

Citing fraud, 37 people who voted for president Nov. 2 have challenged the election results with the Ohio Supreme Court. The voters refer to irregularities including long lines, a shortage of voting machines in minority precincts and problems with computer equipment.

1. Like Dr. Phil says....
"People who have nothing to hide, hide nothing."

Obviously, the dishonorable, cover-up artist, Blackwell--has plenty to hide.

Guilty people often hide behind the law and will refuse to cooperate.

Innocent people, who truly want the truth to come out, can't speak to enough people. They relish the opportunity.

Mr. Blackwell is so obvious with guilt and corruption. His lack of cooperation is very telling, indeed.

11. From what Greg Palast says, Blackwell was supposed to
Edited on Tue Dec-28-04 02:32 AM by Rhiannon12866
deliver the Ohio vote. So he did. And it only makes sense that he'd do anything possible to cover his tracks. I just wish that this story was hitting the headlines of every newspaper in the nation. But you notice where it's from... Britain. And Greg Palast, the investigative journalist who's also kept after this story, and broke the story of the shenanigans in Florida in 2000, also works for this paper and for the BBC. And the conservatives say that we have a "liberal media." I have yet to see an example.:grr:

On edit: I meant to welcome you to DU, TwoSparkles!!! I'm afraid I got carried away about this news story!!! We're so glad to have you with us!:hi:

5. Yep, and obviously looking guilty is a lot more desirable to him than...
...being found guilty. But, since when does one's status as a public official exempt him from scrutiny? Besides, he chose to wear another hat, too, as the head of Chimpy's re-election campaign in Ohio, didn't he?

9. this is the best part of the story
"On Dec. 21, officials learned lawyers for the voters planned to issue subpoenas to several high-ranking officials, including Blackwell, Bush and the president's political adviser, Karl Rove, according to Petro."

10. yep, I love this, KKKarl Rove, Bush's only brain ..you know he was
the orchestra conductor in this election. He stuck his fat nose in Nevada's process so why not Ohio and a few other key locations?? Jerk.

13. My hopes are not high
Ken Blackwell may fall, but Karl Rove is just too slick. If he can sell 51% of this nation on Bush*, he can do anything.
