Sri Lankan family wiped out by tsunami (Lost 43 Family Members)
Dubai: Three months ago, Sri Lankan brothers Nihmal and Fahim Salidin Fouz flew home from Dubai to bury their 52-year-old mother. Last night, they went home again, only this time it is to bury 43 family members.

The entire family - except for a nephew - was swept away by the massive waves that ripped through their village Ampara on Sunday morning.

It was heartbreaking to read this... an entire extended family was wiped off the face of the earth... :(

Those poor people. I feel sorriest for the ones left behind. Earthquakes can just be so devestating. But for the grace of God it could have been my family.

8. Six thousand said missing in Batticaloa

"In the Batticaloa district, the worst affected areas are Kalladi, Navaladi, Mugaththuvaram, Dutch Bar, Seelamunai and Navatkuda. The village of Navaladi has been completely wiped out. Since Batticaloa hospital is full of dead bodies and cannot accommodate any more, the Divisional Secretaries have been advised to instruct Grama Sevakas (village officials) to arrange burial in the places where retrieval is done."

"It is reported that many of the hospital employees have lost their kith and kin and therefore there is an acute shortage of staff in the hospital. The medical officers are engaged in round the clock services over 800 injured are being treated in the Batticaloa hospital."
