Taliban Officials Tell of Plans to Grind Down the Americans
NEW DELHI, Sept. 11 — The resurgent Taliban has embarked on a strategy of small guerrilla attacks intended to frustrate and steadily bleed American forces in Afghanistan and to force the United States to expend billions of dollars in military costs, according to two Taliban officials interviewed recently.

Hajji Ibrahim, who identified himself as a Taliban commander, said the group's goal was to tie down the United States in Afghanistan and force it to spend huge sums responding to limited attacks that draw American forces "here to there, here to there." He confidently predicted that the United States, sapped by a slow, costly and grinding conflict, would abandon Afghanistan after two to three years, and repeatedly compared the current situation to the defeat of Soviet forces in Afghanistan in the 1980's.

1. "force it to spend huge sums"
We might not have to if we had popular support there...but pResident Turd installed a puppet government and sucked up to corrupt warlords instead.

3. Hey... why not?? It worked against the Soviets...
Fightiing against an adversay who is more than willing to die, is never a good idea.. They are fighting for what they consider to be their adopted homeland.. They will do whatever it takes to "discourage us".. They can hit and run, and we all know how effective our big bombs were.. They hightailed it out of the area, and we just blew up caves..:eyes:

Oh well.. whaddayah gonna do???

5. where have you been
we know why we are there -- in case you haven't been paying attention. and the over-kill approach was a mistake and far, far to many innocent people died as a result -- where are those pictires? the dead of starvation because of us? the dead at wedding parties because of us? no osama because of us.

Really? How many Taliban or Afghanis were among the (alleged) hijackers? None. How many Taliban or Afghanis have been shown to provide money to those (alleged) hijackers? None.

Gee, I see your point. :eyes:

On the other hand, anywhere from 4,000 to over 8,000 innocent Afghani civilians have been killed by the US in the past 2 years -- not even important enough to the US to even count them. We don't even call them 'people' -- just 'collateral damage' (like something backing a loan to a loan shark).

7. So, what did the Taliban have to do with those pictures?
They were too busy enslaving Afghanistan; or are you ignorant of the true authors of that atrocity? You might want to do a little more reading, timber; you don't appear to be very learned.

10. Sorry, but it looks like...
YOU are the person who needs the blinders ripped from their eyes.

I see the situations in Afghanistan and Iraq perfectly clearly, thank you very much. It is damned ugly, and we are responsible for that ugliness. And it shames me greatly.

11. Too bad the wood head (Timber) can't get past visuals to
actually READ articles and history to find the truth. :eyes: It takes someone with half a brain to actually even care and to search out the truth. Posts (in two various threads I might add) show nothing but one liner sarcastic comments and no backup for anything other than photos.

Nice photos btw and when those governing America learn that what goes round comes round, then needless killings of all types will stop. Until then, you will need a larger photo album.

DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU.

12. The families of those we've killed as 'revenge' won't forget either
In fact, there's a whole lot of 'not forgetting' going on right now...
