Flight that was taking soldiers home from Iraq hit by ground fire
http://www.duluthsuperior.com/mld/duluthsuperior/news/politics/10522058.htm

A plane operated by an Air Force Reserve wing based in Milwaukee was struck by enemy ground fire several weeks ago shortly after picking up 57 soldiers heading home after their tour of duty in Iraq, crew members say.

"I noticed a lot of fire coming out of the No. 1 engine - the motor pretty much exploded," said Master Sgt. James Grigsby, 41, of Brodhead, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in an interview published Wednesday.

The members of the 440th Airlift Wing based at Mitchell International Airport are part of a group of 180 people deployed from the 440th that rotates in and out of the Southwest Asia Central Command area of operations.

The ground fire punched a large hole in one of the engines of the C-130, and severed fuel lines.

1. I have been waiting for a couple hundred troops dying when
their plane is shot out of the sky. Sounds like they are getting closer to that day by day.

5. TPTB
Do NOT want these troops returning home who are lucid enough to tell the tale. Think about it.

2. it's gonna happen
it'll be interesting to count the recycled rhetoric used by repukes when it does.
''fighting for our freedom''
fighting for iraqi freedom''
''honourable war''
''dark forces''
whatever -- it's all lies -- they will, they are dying for no reason.

3. How come this is being reported several weeks AFTER the incident?
Are there other incidents suffering a delay in reporting?

Oh,...I have no doubt.

6. Ground fire? GROUND FIRE?????
I thought it was just the grateful liberated Iraqi people tossing flowers at the plane in gratitude for their deliverance by American troops.
