Bush Says Iraqi Election Marks Crossroads
CRAWFORD, Texas Dec 29, 2004 — President Bush on Wednesday denounced Osama bin Laden's call to boycott the Iraqi elections, saying that the balloting marks a crossroads for Iraq.

"The stakes are clear in this upcoming election," Bush told reporters at his Texas ranch. "It's the difference between the ability for individuals to express themselves and the willingness of an individual to try to impose his dark vision on the world, on the people of Iraq and elsewhere. It's very important that these elections proceed."
...
Responding to complaints that U.S. troops are not adequately armed, Bush said his administration has stepped up the production of armored Humvees. He said other vehicles being used in the war that require different armament will be better armed by midsummer 2005.

"What I know is that the Defense Department is working expeditiously with private contractors and with our military to get these vehicles armed up," he said.

Asked about his New Year's Eve plans, Bush responded, "Early to bed."

1. he's wrong
The crossroads came when he didn't have enough troops to secure the country after the 1st phase was over. It's all downhill from here Bushie!

3. Hot damn, better armor by July or August!
Try not to get blown up in the meantime, 'k guys?

And yet another in a series of crossroads in Iraq. So far, we've had the invasion, mission accomplished, the handover of power, and soon, the election! Any time now, one of these crossroads is bound to lead Iraq to a better place, just you wait and see.

7. How will Iraq like the "tyranny of the majority?"
If your not a Shia, a man, and (upper) middle class, you're not going to be represented by this gov't.

8. that is what he would like us all to think
once there are elections, he washes his hands of the whole FUBAR and all the blame can be put on the people he "conquored"

If there is an act of terrorism?--it is their fault, not his

He brought "freedom" to those people by killing 100,000 of their innocents.

And the people who voted for him will believe it.

That is the sad part.

16. Its a classic matter of projection
The Chimp's vision is as dark as it gets.
I won't feel sorry for him as his house of cards comes apart. These elections will be a farce.
I think of crossroads of a bad film staring Brittiny Spears.

20. I just wish more people understood that.
How can this giggly serial killer have any credibility ?
Also, yes " tranparency " seems to fit...and as for intention I take the reciprocal meaning of his statements to be the real story.
Chimp is a work of art.

You're right about his intentions. I think the inverse of everything he says as well.

I find myself studying him. As sick as that sounds...

23. Why not study him ?
A better example of a sociopath would be hard to find. I fear we are stuck with him uniti his luck runs out. Evenutally something is going to catch up with him. Half the country can't stand him and much of the world for that matter.

I sometimes think of him as something akin to Dostoyevski's MAN OF ACTION from Notes From The Underground. Basically stupid.
Only add "evil" too.

11. Does anyone ever remember a time when there was such
controversy about arming our troops in combat or making sure they had everything they needed. I know nothing like this occurred in Vietnam. They were prepared and took care of the troops.

Also, does anyone have any idea how the elections are going to come off in this environment with no participation by one or some of the parties.

Osama is beginning to hold more press conferences than our president.

I don't know what I'd do without these inciteful updates with which we're blessed from the crack network "news" folks. You don't suppose they'd venture a critical comment or two about Dimwit's vacuous comments.

24. Yes, on the one hand we have killing, BUT on the other, legitimate killing
is cool as long as your killing can be justified in the name of your nation. God likes countries that kill, he just doesn't like it when individuals try to take their freedom into their own hands. Remember that awful band of rebels that fought the first gorrila war against a real mans army for instance? - you know, those American rebels. We should surrender and give Britain back it's land that we unlawfully stole 228 years ago. :P
