Italy's Berlusconi in tripod attack
ROME (Reuters) - Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has been slightly injured after a tourist threw a camera tripod at him in a packed Rome square, an official from the prime minister's party says.
Berlusconi was hit behind the ear by the tripod during an impromptu walkabout in Piazza Navona shortly after sunset. The official said on Friday that Berlusconi was bruised in the attack and had seen a doctor as a precautionary measure.

ANSA news agency said the assailant was a 28-year old bricklayer from northern Italy who was in Rome for the New Year holiday. He was seized immediately after the assault.

"I did it because I hate him," ANSA quoted the man as telling police. "I certainly didn't plan this, but when I saw him there greeting the crowds, I couldn't stop myself," he added.

4. That 50 million is never added to the cost of the coronation when people
are discussing it. Only the 40million for the parties which is obscene on its own.

5. He's honest about why he did it. How refreshing.
It's a pity however that baseball isn't more popular in Italy.

While the accuracy was there the velocity must have been lacking.

12. Have you picked up a tripod recently?
Even folded, the legs are a good 15" around, and the things are top heavy as hell, this guy is a fucking GOD to get a headshot with a tripod with no practice and no time to get a nice running start ;-)

13. Bricklaying probably gave him strong arms.
I don't know where he got the accuracy though.

6. "I did it because I hate him." Gotta love that passion.
Ciao bella to all 28-year old bricklayers from northern Italy.

8. At least he's got an honest believable reason that doesn't
involve Catcher in the Rye or Jody Foster. Hell, the guy sounds perfectly sane to me.

I wonder how many care packages he'll get with new tripods in them :)

9. Under the law it's defined as "irresistible impulse"
Or perhaps, the devil made me do it.

Look how they're escorting him under arrest. No handcuffs, no being thrown to the ground and beaten. You can tell this didn't happen in America.

15. Of course, being an American, I'm thinking tri-pod is the
code name for some high-tech classified weapon or some CIA black-op.

LOL to click on the link and find out it really was a tripod.

I needed a chuckle.
