Holding the Keys to Power, Tuxes if Needed
Concierges Prepare For Clients' Demands

By Maureen Fan
Washington Post Staff Writer
Sunday, January 2, 2005; Page C01

Second inaugurations tend to be relatively low-key affairs compared with the first go-round, but the most experienced concierge in Washington feels certain this one will be a blowout to rival its predecessor.

"We're not calling it an inauguration," said Jack Nargil, head concierge at the Hay-Adams Hotel, as he gazed across the street at the White House last week. "Because the president's supporters believe he has a mandate, there's going to be, in effect, a coronation."

Some of Nargil's fellow concierges agree and say they are preparing for four days of celebration that will have more of everything: more energy, more activity, more zealousness, more requests.

"You have to understand, the winners are coming to town," said Nargil, a registered Democrat and the longest-serving Washington member of Les Clefs d'Or, an international association of professionally trained concierges. The group's name translates as "the keys of gold."...

10. Total miserable failure
and that is how history will judge him.
imagine the significance of a gesture now - no coronation but a simple party and the money for Indonesia (or any one of any number of worthy recipients.)

4. WaPo is just "thrilled" that America finally has a "Monarchy" they can be
Edited on Sun Jan-02-05 09:57 AM by KoKo01
proud of. Oh my...according to this DC is just Dizzy in anticipation of the Coronation...whereas they couldn't wait to diss and disparage the Clinton's. Nothing they or the Carters did in "low-keying" their inaugurations culled favor with the DC elite...they wanted Royalty and Dinasty, glitz and pizazz.

Well, they had to steal it again but the DC Crowd and the "elites" from all over the world don't give a crap about that. They can dress up and enjoy themselves...enjoying the spoils while the rest of us out here wait for the next shoe to drop in their madness to take the America that was founded on freedoms and the right to pursue happiness down into the gutter so they can step over us in their fur coats and tuxedos never seeing what they've trodden down. :puke:

special trimmings for the "coronation" were flat, tasteless, spoiled, or backordered?

Let them eat cocktail weiners.

23. Wait until his pro-corporatism (fascism), anti-democracy mandate,...
Edited on Mon Jan-03-05 09:14 AM by Just Me
,...really takes hold.

Then, those desperate religious extremists and radical right-wingers will no longer be able to keep on their blinders.

Bush's sole madate is pro-corporatism. He doesn't really give a damn about gays, guns and abortion. He's just been using those divisive single issues to manipulate people.

He and his constituents have manipulated and abused the loyalty and trust of the American people.

A storm's brewin'.
