Powell reaffirms commitment of U.S. aid (Jeb: I am symbol of *'s concern)

Bush, who returned to the White House on Sunday after a holiday vacation at his Texas ranch, will get reports from the delegation, but does not now intend to go to the region.

"These are nations that are spending their time and attention now delivering relief to their citizens, and a visit by the president of the United States, with all that entails, would be a diversion of their attention from providing support," Powell told CNN's "Late Edition."
"So we don't need a big, grandstanding event right now, which would essentially, no matter if it's only two capitals, be a significant diversion," he said.

Jeb Bush, who has overseen Florida's recovery from hurricanes, said before leaving Miami, "I know the president has deep concerns about what has happened and the fact that I am his brother symbolically may underscore his deep concern."

6. now that i read it again
technically, nothing, except a missing comma. I read the sentence starting from the bolded part so I thought that was the beginning of the statement.

Disgregard my grammar comment, though please leave in the disgust behind it. :D

5. Jeb is a signatory to PNAC and gives nothing without strings attached.
To me, his trip to these parts of Asia only symbolizes the BFEE's usual analysis of how they can most benefit from human tragedy.

He and his brother and family have proven themselves as actors interested only in self-advancement.

I wave at the whole lot of them,...WITH ONE FINGER!!! To me, they and their constituents are the enemies of democracy and compassion and equality and "freedom" and hope,...need I go on?

7. The UN and the countries involved have asked...
that Heads of State, etc, NOT come to the region.

There's no ability to provide security for one thing and it would just be disruptive.

And what capitals were damaged? I'm not sure any capital was damaged but I could very well be wrong. If they only go to "two capitals" they won't see the damage.

'I feel your pain'..his excuse to continue his vacation? now he 'symbolically' sends his older brother who the people in Asia know nothing of and could not care less for? :grr:

Edit: I forgot the :grr:..and another thing...If the world trusted us, why would Powell have to RE-AFFIRM our commitment??? and another :grr: so I do not forget!

15. It's all about money,...
,...the BFEE sure as hell hasn't pressed for humanitarian relief caused by their aggressive warring or by other "human-produced" horrors (which they can only profiteer from by pushing arms or drugs).

Absolute power-mongers only feel loss or suffering when it involves their small circle. Otherwise, "compassion" is a codeword for "profits".

11. Hey Jeb! YO, Jeb! Symbolically underscore THIS.
If you go back to the original blueprints for the United States of America, a MONARCHY was one of the things our founding fathers were FIGHTING AGAINST.

Don't take what you believe to be support for the Bush dynasty for granted. George W. Bush is "deeply concerned" about George W. Bush. THAT'S IT. Anything else is "too much hard work."

14. "His deep concern," my sweet pink ass.
Edited on Sun Jan-02-05 06:29 PM by ocelot
Weecowboy's "deep concern" doesn't involve a bunch of non-Christian brown furriners -- he's proved that already. He's sending Brother Jebby as a way of grandstanding that doesn't look as much like grandstanding as it would if he went himself. Anyhow, why would His Chimperial Highness want to travel to some hot, steamy third-world hellhole full of rotting corpses and creepy poor people when he can make somebody else do it?

16. Jeb, Powell, and Cheney...Economic hitmen and jackals smell $$$.
He's going to check on their oil infrastructure damage more than anything. Scout out new jobs for the corporatocracy. It's well known the US has raped Indonesia of it's resources for the last 28 years.
I was just watching an interview with John Perkins where he was discussing Indonesia.

Check out the interview here.http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=04/12/31/1546207

I really am suspicious about this tsunami. It did the same job a year of bombing would do without the high profile blame. Now the World Bank and Jeb are headed over there? Powell, who's now going into privatitizing? Remember Powell went to OPEC last month in Chile. There's just too many coincidences. Plus, remember exactly a year before TO THE HOUR, the Iran earthquake hit under similar historically strange circumstances. Dont you find all these coincidences eerily reminiscint of 9-11? The way they're behaving?

http://globalresearch.ca/articles/CHO412C.html global research has some very good in-depth research about all the cover ups and failures of last week. I think you will find it very interesting and very thorough. Shades of the 9-11 cover up.

Speaking of Dr. Evil, anyone notice that Dick Cheney had been MIA from the time of Karzai's inaugural in early Dec. to his annual duck slaughter trip on New Years day? Where has he been? At some trunami/earthquake command center?

oh yeah, that first pedge of $15 million in aid showed how much * cared--until he was shamed into giving MORE!

my god, I'd better wipe the dust off my passport, I'm afraid I just might need it after all :argh:

22. AARGH!! This is what kills me about the right.
They fall all over each other whining about the Clinton political dynasty. How Bill and Hillary want to run everything. But they love to ignore the fact that the Bush family is committed in getting their greedy hands on every bit of power they can....
