MIAMI, Sept 12 (Reuters) - A group of Florida prison inmates sued state prison officials on Friday, alleging guards torture them with pepper spray and tear gas while they are locked in their cells. snip

"Florida Department of Corrections employees routinely use chemical agents maliciously and sadistically for the very purpose of causing harm and not in a good faith effort to maintain or restore order," the lawsuit said. snip

"They do it to retaliate against inmates and really to intimidate them," he said. "It's like, 'we're going to show you who's boss.'"

Some inmates have suffered severe chemical burns and asthma attacks after being gassed, he said.
