Iraqi official says January election could be delayed
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Iraq's defense minister is raising the possibility that this month's election could be pushed back in an effort to persuade more Sunnis to take part in the vote.

Iraqis are supposed to select a national assembly on January 30th. And U-S and Iraqi officials had been adamant that the vote will take place on schedule.

However, the defense minister now says it could be delayed.

He's in Egypt on a mission to get the country to help persuade Sunnis not to follow through on a threat to boycott the vote. There are fears that low turnout could undermine the assembly's authority.

Iraqi officials are refusing to comment.

1. not going to delay it
It's a symbolic thing and the high and mighty clerics want it to stay on schedule and they are encouraging everyone to vote. It will take place on Jan 31, 2005 as originally scheduled.

2. DUH!
What a novel concept in light of all the violence!

But does it really matter...the election has already been decided by *'s cronies. Rove to be exact, since * is too stupid! (Does he even know where Iraq is, let alone that we are at war?)

Just like it was already decided in the US before Nov. 2. So why did we bother spending all that $$$ campaigning? The corporations could have saved millions had we not gone through this huge farce called campaigns and an election!

Trust me...the elections have already happened in Iraq. Let's call it like it is!

5. i'm pretty sure the shiite's will appreciate this gesture. man wonder
how the clenis will be used to cover up this fubar. or maybe they will start blaming it on powell, now that he is leaving.

americans are dumb as hell not to see this coming. I just find it hard to believe that people need to have info spoon fed to them, for them to get a clue.
