7. I've read that several Celebs have donated, but have done so... |
|
...annonymously so to avoid the "offers" of further "Charitable Opportunities" that come their way.

the only thing cooler would've been to do so without issuing a press release. But it's still damned nice of her.

3. I think the press release does a good job putting other celebs on notice.. |
|
and if you think about it, everything stars do goes through a press agent anyway, so it's not that suprising.

and I hope it spawns other support. I really don't mean to demean her action - I think it's fantastic. I just find quiet charity to be more admirable.

I think the press release came from the American Red Cross. To tell you the truth--I think its important because it may motivate other celebs to do the same.

12. She used her money and star power to help suffering people. |
|
She used her money and star power to help suffering people. Other celebrities might be inclined to follow her example. Certainly some of her fans will. She is apparently a beautiful person on and off the screen.

That is probably the only reason why she did it. Now you will start seeing a stream of celebrities trying to out-charity each other in the coming months. It's like global potlach.

6. That's an incredible amount of money |
|
Even for someone like her. After taxes, maybe a month's worth of salary in a good year.

9. Yeah, but her "month's salary" is other people's lifetime income. |
|
Meaning, any month's salary is something she could live on the rest of her life. And give away the rest.
It's a great cause, and the need will go on for months and years, so I hope a lot of money comes in now while the media is on it.
I wish we could get celebrities to give serious bucks to fundamental things like election reform (yawn, "election reform" -- it sounds so boring when said like that in those two words, eh) that would actually result in billions of dollars going to good things like health, shelter, infrastructure, education, and other life support rather than defense spending, death and destruction.

I am extremely proud of the new Progressive/Liberal movement! Funny thing... I didn't even know I was a liberal until some Rush Limpball Parrots told me so...
Coming from them it was a big time complement. After a couple death threats I realized it was time for me to embrace it. Politics!!! ....A strange phenomena.

16. I doubt that we will hear of any Republican star giving anything |
|
Republican stars are too stingy and greedy to get on this bandwagon. How much did Arnold give? My bet would be that he quietly gives nothing.

20. Wonderful thing for Sandra Bullock to do |
|
With or without the publicity. I'm sure the Red Cross asked her if they could use her name to get more publicity, and since Bullock knows the power of the media she said yes. It was a smart thing to do. Some may accuse her of a publicity stunt, but I'm sure she truly cares.
Kudos to Sandra for being a caring human being.

They played an exhibition match in Thailand and donated their rackets for auction--raised $2,500.
Cheap bitches!
