British security personnel killed by car bomb in Iraq (mercs)
http://thescotsman.scotsman.com/international.cfm?id=8142005

THREE Britons were killed in a bomb blast in Baghdad yesterday, as militants launched a series of attacks across Iraq.

Two of the dead British men worked for the United States-based international security consultants Kroll Inc. They died alongside another British man and a US citizen, described by Kroll as "clients" of the firm.

The consultants mostly employ former members of the security services, including the SAS and other elite units.

The Britons were killed as a car bomb exploded at a US-manned checkpoint to the Green Zone, the heavily fortified area that houses the US embassy and Iraqi government offices in Baghdad.

1. Bush's disastrous foreign policy is to the point of being almost
comical, especially when the media continues to downplay, daily, Bush's failures.

happy new year!

Same old shit though. The mercs have beed dying at a quite regular pace in the last two months or so. In a different incident, here are photos of the SUV the "bodyguards" were in while (irony alert) protecting the Baghdad Governor assasinated today. What a swell job!

Iraqis gather near the bullet riddled vehicle that was carrying some of the bodyguards of the governor of the Baghdad province, Ali al-Haidari in Baghdad's northern neighborhood of Hurriyah, Tuesday Jan. 4, 2005. Al-Haidari and six of his bodyguards were killed when gunmen attacked their three-vehicle convoy Tuesday. Al-Haidari was travelling in his armored BMW, which was removed from the scene of the attack before photographer arrived. (AP Photo/Mohammed

5. fancy words for "Hired Killers"...

~snip~

Kroll could tell you what it does, but then, of course, it would have to charge you. The company is made up of four units: Background Screening (pre-employment background checking, drug testing, and surveillance services), Consulting Services (threat assessment, risk management, executive protection, intelligence services, litigation support, and fraud investigations), Corporate Advisory & Restructuring (financial services, operational turnaround, and financial crisis management), and Technology Services (computer forensics and data recovery). The company provides its services through 64 offices in 19 countries worldwide. Marsh & McLennan has acquired Kroll for about $1.9 billion.
