Gonzales Hearing `Contentious' Without Documents, Leahy Says
Gonzales Hearing `Contentious' Without Documents, Leahy Says
Jan. 4 (Bloomberg)
-- Continued White House refusal to turn over memos by counsel Alberto Gonzales on treatment of suspected terrorists would create a ``contentious issue'' in Senate confirmation hearings on his nomination by President George W. Bush to be U.S. attorney general, a key Democratic lawmaker said.

1. Leahy didn't need my letter to him on Gonzales --
-- but he was on my list of senators to whom letters were sent, asking them for their consideration of the Gonzales nomination, with a view toward opposing it owing to the "torture" memoranda.

If you have not written to your senators, please consider doing so.

A man who condones torture should not be the chief justice officer of the United States.

2. more to the point, a lawyer, whose client is The President
should not be finding "legal" ways to excuse torture, execution of innocents, and the panoply of abuses a psychotic, overindulged tyrant like the Dauphin can stumble into.

6. This is all smoke and mirrors, imo...
Gonzales will be confirmed, the world will be sent the 'appropriate' message and the public will go back to Survivor.
