Tax Panel Leaders May Be Named (Mack & Breaux)

Bush is close to naming two former senators, Connie Mack of Florida, a Republican, and John B. Breaux of Louisiana, a Democrat, to lead a commission on overhauling the tax system, administration officials said Tuesday.

Mr. Bush said after the November election that reshaping the tax code would be a primary goal of his second term. He missed his Dec. 31 deadline to name the commission.
