Sen. Boxer may challenge results of presidential election
http://www.thehill.com/thehill/export/TheHill/News/Frontpage/010505/jackson.html

By Geoff Earle

Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) is considering launching a challenge to Ohio’s electoral votes when the Senate meets tomorrow to certify the votes of the Electoral College.

The challenge -- should Boxer decide to offer it -- would force a debate in the House and Senate over whether President Bush’s electoral victory will stand. Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) is planning to issue a challenge in the House. Conyers and 23 other House members today outlined their reasons for opposing the certification of Ohio’s electors, claiming there were “numerous, serious election irregularities” in Ohio.

Bush carried Ohio by more than 100,000 votes. The state handed him an Electoral College victory over Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass).

Meanwhile, Rev. Jesse Jackson made an 11th hour appeal today to Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), urging him to object to the Ohio vote.

###

We're hearing (Raw Story: http://rawstory.com) from our sources on the Hill that her challenge is extremely likely. Olbermann reported on countdown that as many as six senators will challenge, but that seems overly optimistic.

23. $$$

Heck--I'll give props (and maybe money ;) ) to ANYONE
who will STAND UP FOR WHAT'S RIGHT TOMORROW!

This is too important to NOT act. And this time,
they know we're all watching.

If they don't act, many may very well find that
they no longer have their jobs. :)

CHECK IT OUT AND PASS IT ON ASAP!

4. Election Challenge
I just sent Senator Boxer a message telling thge story about how a REPUBLICAN I know got frozen out from voting due to a paucity of voting machines here in Ohio.

I do so sincerely hope she will get up and do what is right tomorrow.

I'll heartily support any DEM who wants to fight Bush/media.

I'll deride and distance myself from any DEM who does not.

11. `Bout time she did something worthwhile
All she's done before this is tick me off with infringements of my rights. Least that's all I've ever heard about her work.

I'm a Democrat and a staunch supporter of gun rights for law abiding citizens. I really wish the Dems would drop the whole gun issue. I wish the Repubs would drop abortion and prayer in school too. We've got real problems!! The world, society, life as we know it is under so many very real threats while these idiots fight over the arrangement of the deck chairs. Engaging in these pointless distractions from the real problems (environment, disease, food supply, energy, drinkable water, economy, etc) is just plain stupid!! Waste of time and energy. Barb Boxer, Chuck Schumer, Rick Santorum, Orin Hatch etc can all jump in a lake far as I'm concerned.

12. Well said!
I couldn't agree more. But the distraction, isn't that their whole purpose? If the Reps had to deal with any serious issues, someone might try to hold them accountable. We couldn't have that now, could we?

is it legit. I'm just scared that we don't have enough proof on our side to stop this election. I can't get my hopes up. :(

17. FRAUDS...
There's more than enough proof there was frauds in Ohio!!! We will not be able to change the election results, however, the whole point of doing this is to embarrass the THUGS (republicans) and to say... There was frauds and we are NOT going to take your shit anymore!!!

18. oh okay
That's good that the frauds will finally be exposed to many Americans. I hope the senators stand up because we desperately need electoral reform. We can't win with these slim margins when Diebold and thug tactics exist out there.

Too bad we didn't do thin in 2K or 2K2 so we wouldn't have to see * in the WH for another 4 years. :(

strength in numbers

I hope a lot of courageous Senators do. Rove will have a hard time attacking all 44 Dem Senators plus Jim Jeffords and a few good Republicans. I hope Jim stands with her since he isn't partisan.

20. Any Senator that joins the House in challenging the Ohio electors
should be rewarded with our support when they run for reelection and/or run for higher office.

Any Senator that sits on his/her butt and fails to support the House Democrats in their challenge deserves our contempt and will never get our support.

21. I love Barbara Boxer...I'm so proud she is my Senator & Neighbor....
When she is in town I see her almost daily....my daughter knows she is our Senator and says "hi Senator" and then turns to me and says "Mom, I am going to be a Senator too, just like Sen Boxer"...

I saw her a few weeks back when she was in town for recess...She was at the Grocery store and we chatted about "the election" results...she is going to stand up....I know it...

:hi:

25. I wish I could stay home tomorrow and see this play out. I keep thinking
about work scenarios where you know someone is doing something behind your back to sabotage this or that but you can't "prove" it and you know you would sound like a nut case if you were to accuse the person of any wrongdoing. I realize that the election is of a different magnitude altogether but there is that similar element. You have some evidence, perhaps some that even seems overwhelming but there is still something that is missing or something that isn't there that makes you uncomfortable with a direct accusation. I think anyone who takes a stand in this matter is very brave considering the shit storm that will be released by the M$M.

27. going to be pooh-poohed reports by lap-dogs
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2002142576_ohiovote06.html

---snip---

The report was sent with a letter signed by 24 House Democrats to Senate leaders, claiming that the "massive and unprecedented extent of irregularities in Ohio raise grave doubts" about the state's electoral votes.

A single senator supporting the effort by law would require the two chambers to meet separately for up to two hours and consider the objection. Democratic aides said Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., might support such a move.

--------------------------

key words "consider the objection" -- doesn't mean anything more will be done and will probably be a "speech-fest". GOPers will tell the lap-dog-media what to report. I expect any objections will be pooh-poohed as a tin-foil-hat

28. Reid not happy about this?
"Boxer's consideration of an objection apparently has stirred the pot with new Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, who according to several sources was very upset with the proposal and tried to prevent a leak of the senator's plan from getting out."

Faux news, therefore accuracy is totally unreliable.

29. Kick, kick and kick!
Go, Sens. Boxer and Conyers!

This whole thing with Sen. Kerry not being part of a challenge kind reminds me of that scene in "Fahrenheit 9/11" where Al Gore is asking members of the black caucus whether they have a senator to sign on to their objections. Sad.
