(U.S. Appointed) Iraqi Prime Minister extends emergency laws for 30 days
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/L06271151.htm

<snip>The emergency rule was first imposed for 60 days in November ahead of a major assault on the rebel stronghold of Falluja.

It includes special powers to impose curfews and to close borders and airports if necessary, and to detain people suspected of being part of the insurgency without following normal legal procedures.

Smell that freedom? I smell something.

We are now going to (supposedly) have "free and fair" elections under
the umbrella of "emergency laws" allowing the "government" to do
whatever it wants, for as long as it wants, in the name of "security".

As if this stooge controlled anything in Iraq, or had the foggiest
idea how to bring "security".

How are things in the model city of Fallujah, anyway?

The election date is getting closer, and the noises coming from under
the stage louder and more strident. It reminds me a bit of a software
project in the last month before the delivery date, when it is becoming
abundantly clear that the only thing that will be in a deliverable
state is the PowerPoint presentation that the project was sold with,
many moons ago.

3. LOL! What a fucking joke!
Now just who is going to enforce those laws against a few hundred thousand folks in the Resistance? These puppets and the US are showing their desperation.

Puppet governor of Baghdad assassinated.

Eyewitnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam in Baghdad that the
attack took place between the al-Mansur neighborhood
and al-Ghazaliyhah on Hayy al-Jami'ah Street
University Neighborhood Street at exactly 8:30am
Tuesday morning.
The witnessed described how a detachment of about 20
Iraqi Resistance fighters armed with BKC machine guns
and lighter automatic weapons attacked the motorcade of
the puppet governor, killing him and three of his aides, one
of them an officer of undetermined rank.

The witnesses said that puppet “rapid deployment
forces” clashed with the masked Resistance fighters
minutes after the attack. Thirteen of the puppet rapid
deployment police were killed, the witnesses said, but
the Resistance fighters were able to get away with no
losses.

The Resistance attack also destroyed two Land Cruisers
and the late-model BMW car in which the governor was
riding.

Observers said that the precision with which the
Resistance chose the time and place and the size of
their attacking force indicated that they had definite
knowledge regarding the governor's motorcade. The
operation was obviously well-planned and was carried out
very quickly and the Resistance attackers were able to get
away quickly as well.

Initial major media reports provided few details as
the occupation struggled to put together an official
version.

At least one of his bodyguards was also killed in the attack,
in the Hurriyah district on the west bank of the Tigris
river.

I didn't even look at CNN. I bet they didn't give this much.
I'm always willing to be corrected, though.
