White House Won't Release Gonzales Papers
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=389107

WASHINGTON Jan 6, 2005 — The White House refused Thursday to provide senators additional documents on attorney general nominee Alberto Gonzales' involvement in the decision to allow aggressive interrogations of terrorism detainees, setting up a confrontation with Democrats looking into his role in the now-repudiated policies.

<snip>

Senate Democrats say the White House has refused to give them all of the memos and documents they need to trace how that decision was made so they can review Gonzales' role and how it would affect him as the nation's top law enforcement official.

But David Leitch, the White House's deputy counsel, told ranking Judiciary Democrat Patrick Leahy of Vermont in a letter released Thursday that the administration has already turned over all of the documents it plans to.

3. Oh well, no matter
Should we vote to confirm Gonzalez now, or keep y'all in suspense until this afternoon?

Honestly, I think the Senate Democrats would confirm Herman Goering because Hitler needs the man he thinks most qualified to run the luftwaffe.

Spineless. Unamerican. Pink tutu-wearing. Sissy-boys. Not a jot or a tittle of integrity in the bunch.

5. Sickening. I heard an interview with Bill Nelson (D-Fl.) while I was in
Florida and he stated "oh he'll (Gonzoid) be grilled but he should pass the nominating process."

9. Lindsay Graham (R-SC) said basically...

the same thing last night on "Hardball". He said he did plan on asking questions about the memo's but was going to vote for confirmation in any case. My question is, why ask him questions if you are already going to vote for him? That's poor thinking if you ask me.

6. Did they claim Executive Privilege? They have to have a reason.
Well, I guess the Dem Senators will be playing the "nasty" tapes during the hearing.

13. Will household name DEMS go on TV and accuse Bush of "hiding somthing?"
And do it in an agressive, unified manner?

Thats what *I* would do.

But then again, I'm not afraid of Judy Woodruff and Karl Rove like most DEMS are.

he's going to get confirmed, whether the democrats (and republicans with morals - ha!) say anything or not. what does it matter to the white house, there's no authority congress can now weild on them to do the right thing.

to the rest of the world... we sane americans now depend on you to save our nation, it may require 'euthanasia.' god help us all...
