Used Body Armor Is Sought for U.S. Vehicles in Iraq - the real abomination |
|
I ask, how used? PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - New Jersey is collecting used bulletproof vests for U.S. troops in Iraq (news - web sites) to use as armor for their vehicles, following complaints that soldiers were underprotected....http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=578&ncid=578&e=3&u=/nm/20050106/ts_nm/iraq_us_vests_dc

1. Trust me its rather hard to wear out Kevlar |
|
I gave my vest to the son of a friend of mine who was being shipped off to Iraq about six months ago. It saw me through the Gulf War (the several inches of steel, titanium and ceramics that my M-1 had also helped.) It was lying in my footlocker and gathering dust. He can get a lot better use out of it than me.

|
And does John Q. Public care that our troops STILL don't have enough body armor or BULLETS & RIFLES?
Nope.

3. It also kinda reminds me |
|
of something I read in Cornelius Ryan's "A Bridge Too Far." The paras had flak jackets but never used them outside of sitting on them on their way to the dropzone. It kept them from getting shot in the ass by flak coming through the bottom of the plane.

pontificate that there was enough armor over there and that soldier was insubordinate. So these guys must be collecting Armor for some other Army. God how I'd like to smash those idiots. They lie through their teeth. I think I'll send this article to Rush. I've sent three others to O'Reilly and Hannity already today. I hate those people. If there is a god please save us from these morans. :nuke: :nuke: :nuke:

9. Who knows about USED armor? |
|
I used to play ice hockey. After taking a good hit in the head, we bought new helmets. Even though the old helmet looked alright, it had been weakened, and would not be as protective the next time it took a shot.
Does anyone know if used armor works the same way?
