7. Guess I trust their news more then I trust ours.
For it being scary the countries with higher economic freedoms enjoy a better standard of living.

38. Lisa, Norway is #1 std of living: statement in your re:7 is not true
Norway has been the world's best place to live for years, according to the UN agency that does the ratings. Use search here, for earlier DU post with the link.

Doesnt Mexico have a pretty "open', free economic system? Dirty and dangerous place to live.
Haiti also comes to mind.. several starve each year there.

39. Canada
I believe the UN has rated Canada as the best place to live for 7 years in a row, IIRC.

2. YUP
"Although its score remains unchanged from last year, and it is still classified as free, the United States - now in a tie for 12th place with Switzerland - has been 'treading water'," according to the editors, "and hence has been surpassed by countries willing to open their economies still further".

How can we open an economy that we don't have. We don't make anything.

3. I was wondering when this would come up
We are plunging into a third world country. A fascist/theocracy with the money going to the rich/corporates/military.

You'll never see this on a right-wing site. They want to hide it from the sheeple.

12. Larry Craig, my Senator
Edited on Fri Jan-07-05 01:45 AM by Erika
meets with the Heritage Foundation every Tuesday. His translation will be "we have to give more money to the corporations, cut wages and benefits to the workers, and do away with SS, unemployment insurance, and all the rest. It's dragging us down beyond belief. Change the minimum wage to $2.00 an hour, cut medicare, and get competetive. His first iniative will to be to cut corporate taxes to 1%, get rid of environmental protections, outlaw labor unions, nix health coverage, and then brag about "the hard work" he's doing on behalf of all of us.

21. Perhaps before boldly making false statements, you should
do some checking?

You have no idea how often people from Idaho come on here. And you had no reason to tell Erika flatly that her senator was not her senator.

It makes one wonder.

18. Thanks, NYC
Larry Craig was born about 40 miles from me to a ranching family. His first business venture ended in bankruptcy and he went into politics. His personal history is a mile long and it's not pretty. He sang with Jim Jeffords and John Ashcroft, the singing senators. His bile was so high when Jeffords turned independent that he refused to speak his name again.

Thanks again.

I thought it was a pretty bold statement from someone who appears to be a stranger to state flatly that Larry Craig is not your senator when you said he is.

They sleep. Hi Erika. Spent several years in Idaho, though back in Washington now. But I don't like smurf turf, I'm a Vandal. I certainly wish my neighboring state was not as bright red as it is, but Keep up the voice maybe It will change its ways. Hell I may move back and make it a bit more blue.
