General Sees Permanent 30,000 Increase in U.S. Army
http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=domesticNews&storyID=7260440

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - With the U.S. military heavily engaged in Iraq and Afghanistan, a senior general said on Thursday he expected the Pentagon will make permanent a temporary increase of 30,000 soldiers in the Army.

The senior Army general, briefing reporters on condition of anonymity, said, "As far as I can see, it will be hard for us to come off of the 30 (thousand)." Maintaining the additional 30,000 soldiers costs $3 billion annually, he said.

A permanent increase to 512,000 soldiers in the Army would require congressional approval.

"There is stress in the force," the general added. "That's why we asked for the temporary 30-K increase to relieve some of that pressure. That's why we instituted stop-loss."

1. Ah, where's he going to get the troops?
Since our economy is sour and Bush has cut Pell grants where the average kid cannot go to college, I guess he'll recruit the low income class and middle class kids to die for his corporatism. After all, they voted for him by his stats.

4. All those who
voted for Bush should be sent off to fight for him.
The first ones to go should be Supreme Court Justices Kennedy, O'Connor, Rehnquist, Scalia, and Thomas.

That ought to be enough to last at least four years.

do not play nice.
And they keeping breaking all the ones we send there.

I say that we should should show our displeasure
by not sending them any more soldiers
until they ask nicely to have them back.
And even then we should make them wait a while.
Until they get those flowers and ticker-tape parades all lined up.
