Model of Ten Commandments monument will tour
(Montgomery, Alabama-AP) -- A model of Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore's Ten Commandments monument is going on tour.

The lightweight model will be the centerpiece of a "Save the Commandments Caravan" that will go from Montgomery to the steps of the U-S Supreme Court.

A Huntsville sculptor and a Decatur monument maker are teaming up to restore the full-size model that was used as a guide for the actual granite monument. The model is made of foamboard, wood and tin. . . .

It could also tour with the commandments.

Also a few other items Suggestions?

A few medieval chastity belts maybe. (No premarital sex)

3. Well, now we know why Moore copyrighted the design
of the monument in his own name. Wouldn't want anyone else to get the profits from the "Touring Rock".:puke:

11. "Save the Commandments"????? What a LAFF!
Edited on Sat Sep-13-03 10:20 PM by BiggJawn
This is interesting. Very interesting....
I sense a TREMENDOUS LACK of FAITH on the part of the people organizing this "tour"....

The "10 Commandments" supposedly come from God, right?
God is all-powerful, omnipotent and all that, right?

Can somebody please tell me why his "Commandments" need "saving" from the puny actions of MAN?

What's the matter? Don't they think their Holy Stones can stand on their own against the United States Supreme Court? Are they trying to tell us that the SCOTUS is more powerful than God?

If they truly believed, they would have moved the rock and said "Fine. We'll move them. But you're gonna get YOURS some day. Just DON'T 'pull His finger' if he offers..."

This is funny. All-powerful GAWD so puny he needs even punier MEN to stand up for Him...

or they'll all be going to Hell, according to my religion!

And all this talk about the "Golden Calf?"...Well that belongs in Wisconsin, the Dairy State, my friends, and we arn't going to take any bullsh*t.

15. Those of us down here in Alabama are.............
........not surprised at all to see this. This place is heaven for protestant extremists. No matter how far the rest of the country progresses, Alabama will always be a dead weight dragging us back toward religious extremism. Believe me, I've lived here all my life. I know.

16. Going on tour?
Like a rock band or something?

This is just another example of the religious right trying to get the ten commandments monument back in a place where it doesn't belong.

I wrote an editorial piece to the newspaper at my university saying that the monument has no place in a government building. Naturally it wipped the religious right into a frenzy as the next day there was an editorial about "Removing god's word and letting the devil in."
