Bush Dismisses Growing Concerns Over Elections in Iraq
Bush rejected any suggestion today that the Jan. 30 elections in Iraq would do more harm than good. He declared that they would constitute a landmark, not only in American policy toward Iraq but in that country's road to democracy.

"Democracy is hard," Mr. Bush said in a brief question-and-answer session in the White House. "Our own country's had a history of kind of a bumpy road toward democracy."

Referring to the campaign to stabilize Iraq, Mr. Bush said: "I know it's hard, but it's hard for a reason. And the reason it's hard is because there are a handful of folks who fear freedom."

Mr. Bush did not break new ground in his remarks; he has consistently voiced his faith in the power of democracy in general and, in particular, its potential to free the Iraqi people once and for all from the oppression and fear of the Saddam Hussein era and to forge a new country that would be a beacon for the Middle East.

He actually said that Democracy was hard WORK. Once he gets stuck on a theme, he really gets stuck on a theme.

lives on a different planet than the rest of us? He's living on planet Neocon with Cheney, Rice, Rummy, Wolfie, Feith and the rest of the crazies.

If this isn't a blatant condemnation of our educational system, nothing is. Half this country is almost too damn stupid to tie their shoes.

10. Anybody notice that when he speaks at these things, he looks DOWN?
A signal that the speaker is telling a lie. I believe if you look up or (I think) to the right when you're answering a question, you're trying to remember the answer. If you're looking downward, or down and to the left, you're making something up.

And YES, I keep wondering when people are gonna start waking up. We live in the United States of Rip Van Winkle.

11. Also if you are looking down...
it's a sure sign that you are reading pre-prepared responses. This is a more likely scenario, although you are correct that he is lying. He is just reading someone else's transcribed lies.

18. The only complication to this is - I do not remember seeing (or if the
cameras showed) that he had anything in his lap while he sat there taking impromptu questions. Notes, index cards, or anything that could have been pre-written for him. Not that he wouldn't ever have any pre-fab responses at his fingertips, of course.

13. "Where you gonna put your hands?"
Rusty: Where you gonna put your hands? No good. Don't touch your tie, look at me. Okay, I ask you a question, you have to think of the answer, where do you look? No good. You look down, they know you're lying. And up, they know you don't know the truth. Don't use 7 words when 4 will do. Don't shift your weight. Look always at your mark but don't stare. Be specific but not memorable. Be funny but don't make him laugh. He's gotta like you and then forget you the moment you've left his sight. And for God's sake, whatever you do, don't, under any circumstances-
Leon: Rust?
Rusty: Yeah?
Leon: Can you take a look at this?
Rusty: Sure

Our puppets will be installed and our soldiers will continue to die. Nothing for Bush to worry about at all. The profits will continue to grow for the war profiteering corporations so everything is just dandy for Bush.

35. A handful of people?
Did the Iraqi general say it was at least 100,000 insurgents?

Bush dismisses like that Repuke on TV said "I reject that!" over and over with respect to hearing that Gonzales had agreed with the torture memos. They don't like the news, they reject, dusmiss, or deny its existence. It truly is Bushworld.

Khephra, Thanks for all you have given this world.

Democracy is hard work.
Iraq is a dangerous place.
People hate freedom.

Is this what it takes to connect with the people? Simple phrases that may or may not be true?
