Big Bush's Visit Fuels Talk of Big Deals

He may be retired from public life but George Bush seems to cause a stir every time he comes to Russia.

You name it and market players were buzzing Thursday about the real reasons behind the former American leader's visit -- an $18 billion play by U.S. oil giant ChevronTexaco for a blocking stake in the new Yukos-Sibneft combo? The launch of a $500 million private tie-up between Alfa Group and Pentagon-connected Carlyle Group? Divvying up the hydrocarbon resources of postwar Iraq?

Late Wednesday, before Bush Sr. had even left, traders in New York had already heard word that he was heading to Russia to help clear the way for the sale of a strategic stake in YukosSibneft to ChevronTexaco, which named one of its tankers after Condoleezza Rice, a former board member who is now his son's national security adviser.

But it didn't stop there. The buzz continued Thursday as news spread that Bush was also here to help finalize the creation of a $500 million private equity fund between Russian oil-to-telecoms giant Alfa and one of his present employers, the Carlyle Group, a defense industry insider that counts former U.S. Secretary of State James Baker and former British Prime Minister John Major among its advisers.

There's more to this story - something to do with this guy, Mikhail Khodorkovsky, one of Russia's richest men and big-wig with Yukos Oil. He is paying Kissinger to negotiate with Putin.

Apparently, he's had to answer question from the General Prosecutor's Office regarding his business practices. And since he hangs with this crowd, you can safely assume his "business practices" are crooked.

If I'm reading this article correctly, it looks like there's some blackmail going on by Kremlin - leaking communications between Kissinger & Khodorkovsky.

I would bet my last dime they had something to do with Iraqi oil.

But why would Putin want to sell off a large share of Russia's largest oil company to Carlyle after BushCo went into Iraq and stole all the oil that the Russians leased from Saddam?

Washington, August 2) Under the guidance of Richard Cheney, a get-the-government-out-of-my-face conservative, Halliburton Company over the past five years has emerged as a corporate welfare hog, benefiting from at least $3.8 billion in federal contracts and taxpayer-insured loans.


One of these loans was approved in April by the U.S. Export-Import Bank. It guaranteed $489 million in credits to a Russian oil company whose roots are imbedded in a legacy of KGB and Communist Party corruption, as well as drug trafficking and organized crime funds, according to Russian and U.S. sources and documents.
Those claims are hotly disputed by the Russian oil firm’s holding company.
Halliburton, which lobbied for the Ex-Im loan after the State Department initially asserted that the deal would run counter to the "national interest,” will receive $292 million of those funds to refurbish a massive Siberian oil field owned by the Russian company, the Tyumen Oil Co., which is controlled by a conglomerate called the Alfa Group.


Note: Remember Chalva Tchigirinsky from the Vreeland note? He has links to Tyumen Oil and Siber/Sybur oil. This is now connected to Alpha Group and Carlyle. Tyumen was cutting deals with Saudis also.

Here comes Enron part 2. Mikhail Khodorkovsky and YukosSibneft will be the new Ken Lay and Enron. This time it's very public and 100% stage managed by Poppy (with a little help behind the scenes from that wanker Bandar).
After that, the next to go down the toilet pan will be Chelsea Football Club, now owned by Sinbneft's asshole major shareholder Roman Abramovich, has been coralled into a $100 million spending spree......

Makes me think of that old biblical analogy about the good shepherd leading his sheep ....only this time, up the garden path and straight into the cesspit.....
