Seattle PI: Dead voted in governor's race
At least eight people who died well before the November general election were credited with voting in King County, raising new questions about the integrity of the vote total in the narrow governor's race, a Seattle Post-Intelligencer review has found.

The evidence of votes from dead people is the latest example of flaws in an election already rocked by misplaced votes and allegations that there were thousands more votes counted than actual voters.

County officials say they are investigating the cases pointed out by the P-I. "These are not indications of fraud," said Bill Huennekens, King County's elections supervisor. "Fraud is a concerted effort to change an election."

10. Fraud is a concerted effort to deceive.
They're changing the bar, so they must know that the people who committed these crimes are mostly Republican.

2. The Slugs in Washington............
just won't accept the will of the people. They want a re-vote, they lost, they weren't supposed to lose. They never lose. There's a mistake.
GET OVER IT! Seems as if I've heard that somewhere before.
YOU LOST! Try harder next time!
I can't wait until Wednesday when this BS is over. Of course it will never be over for the GOP girlie men in Washington. They'll cry and cry but nobody is listening any more. Babies!

this is so ridiculous.. anyone notice that thay don't mention who the dead people voted for? I would make a wager that it was Rossi. But,, you are right.. they are never supposed to lose.. By the way.. I had slug juice that ruined a pair of jeans once while crawling under some brush in Port Townsend, Washington.. true story.. that stuff does not come out of your clothes and is like hard glue once it goes through the dryer. I am just saying.
I worked for the campaign treasurer of a certain Washington state Senator.. and also was an aide to a certain Rep from Bellingham,WA back in 84. I know my Washington state political shit. One was a Repug the other a Dem. Make a wager. Rossi is a goner.I am really happy to live in NYC now.

5. Florida too
they even unseated the mayor of Miami when they found out how dead people voted for him.

I think we need to take a good look at the absentee ballots all over the country. They are the ones that are most easily forged. As a matter of fact, I know of one Repug in my area that specializes in helping poor illiterate Black people to vote. Gee guess who he makes them vote for?

I know several "consultants" that do the same "helping" with Hispanics with poor English skills. Unfortunately, this "consultant" has these people vote for the highest bidder that often is a Republican. This "consultant" is allegedly a Democrat, but not in good standing with many.

Edited on Sat Jan-08-05 08:10 AM by masjenkins
normally they were supposed to be sent back to the precinct of residence.(of the military person) This time around they went thru the military and were filtered back home.. (sent to commanders, so i was told.. who then forwarded them back to the good ole us of A.) I met a 23 year old kid who was on his way to iraq in the detroit airport the other day. Heartbreaking story that I still can not relay. different subject for another time... Rossi is toast tho. Once again I will make a wager.... Rossi's contest will get huge coverage (unlike yesterdays challenge) and the new spin will be every dem that won cheated. YOU BET.
(btw.. anyone know of a chocalate sauce, like hershey,s called "You Bet"?.. husband just bought it the other day cause the name made him laugh..new joke around the house now. Do you guys think it might have poison in it???.. kidding.. uh huh .

30. That reminds me of a joke heard 'round these parts
Two Conway County precinct workers were in a cemetery gathering names off of headstones for the coming election rolls. One worker comes upon an old grave marker and he couldn't make out the name. So he moved on to the next marker.

His co-worker said, "Hey, you didn't get the name off that headstone."

"I can't read it. The stone's so old that the letters are weathered down," the first man says.

"I don't care," the second man says. "Get the name!"

"It's impossible. I can't read it."

"Look," the second man says, "you get that name. That man's got just as much a right to vote as anyone in this cemetery!"

:)

11. Well, it must be so because we all know how accurate the data is.
:eyes:

I'm just wondering how a corpse retrieves an absentee ballot. Maybe we just should prohibit anyone from dying before an election who's already submitted an absentee ballot? Poor Oregon. There must be hundreds of people that voted who're now dead. Should they have a "I Voted" sticker on their tombstones?

I wonder if some of the same people who helped develop Florida's felon rolls have moved to Washington. After all, when Robert Johnson dies then any vote by Robert Johnson must be invalid, right?

12. If you haven't read the insiders account of the recount in King County
read it. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=103&topic_id=95430&mesg_id=95430&page=

Gives more perspective to each new story pushed by Washington state GOP ... note that nearly all of the new stories center around King County which is featured in this account. The point is that these efforts are more than just "desperatation" claims but a carefully orchestrated campaign. My guess the game now is to bring up as many specious charges as possible in order to build public support for Rossi's call (if he makes it - or has he decided to or not to ) for a revote...

15. Yes, this is standard Republican procedure
I posted before that if you want to know how this is going to go, look back at the race for Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court that Rove ran back in the eighties. The Republican lost, but they challenged in the courts and started a concerted effort in the press to cast doubt on the Democrat's win. This is exactly the kind of story that ran constantly in the Alabama press for a year and a half while Rove took the case all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. Eventually he got his guy installed, and by the time it happened, the constant insinuations of Democratic fraud had swayed public opinion so much that people accepted it.

The worst thing is, the effect of these stories lingers on long after the race is decided and makes it easier for the Republicans to do the same thing again later.

SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER

Charlette Holmgren realized a few weeks before the November election that she might not be able to cast her vote. She had recently been told that her breast cancer had spread to her liver and was terminal.

So Holmgren asked her husband of 40 years to vote for her in the event that she was unable. "She said, you know I may not be able to vote when the time comes to vote, but I want you to vote for me," Bob Holmgren said. "Her vote was important to her."

They went over all the issues on the ballot, and she told him how to vote for her on each one. She did not like Christine Gregoire, he said -- she didn't like the way she shuffled blame onto underlings during her time as attorney general. "She definitely did not want that lady to become the governor of the state," he said.

She wanted to vote to give more money to schools and to re-elect President Bush, among other things.

42. the votes are anonymous....
at least in my county, the absentee ballot is put into an outer envelope to mail. The ballot itself doesn't have any identifying marks on it. Once it is accepted, it can't be traced back to the voter.

and were feeling *half* dead.

I'm all for Every. Vote. being counted, but the hypocrisy is stunning. Didn't Republicans in the US Congress just spend a day saying -one after the other- that elections aren't perfect? There Cannot be a double standard.

with a election supervisor... "Fraud is a concerted effort to change an election"... Democrat is not the one who is casting ballots for dead people. It's the voter themself is doing this.
Where the hell, Rossi comes out and making statements trying to accuse the Democrat for Fraud and when Democrat commited has no control over what the voters do in their own privet home when they use someone else ballots... Give me F#@ken break!!!

before the absentee was mail out... Her husband filed out her ballot after she died. Before she died, she asked him to file out the absentee (when it arrives) and make sure he vote for Rossi for her. Well, this is illegal! NO one suppose to file out ballots out and sign for another person.
