U.S. Soldiers Kill 5 Iraqis Near Baghdad (2 policemen and 3 civilians)
Edited on Sun Jan-09-05 05:01 AM by Bluebear
BAGHDAD, Iraq - U.S. troops opened fire after their convoy was struck by a roadside bomb at a checkpoint south of Baghdad, killing at least five Iraqis, including two policemen and three civilians, police said Sunday.

The firing occurred late Saturday near the police checkpoint in Yussifiyah, nine miles south of Baghdad, Interior Ministry spokesman Col. Adnan Abdul-Rahman said. The U.S. military said it was investigating the report.

1. So much for identifying your target, unless it was done on...
purpose. If they're not wearing US camouflage they are targets.

Don't hold your breath on the so-called investigation either.

2. If the US is serious about actually investigating
since they preface each one of these killings with "The incident is under investigation," there must be thousands of such investigations going on right now. Military court calendars have to be backlogged to the year 2020.

3. Precision bombing hits wrong house kills 14 including children
Here's the Orwellian apology:

<"Multi-National Force Iraq deeply regrets the loss of possibly innocent lives," the statement said, adding that an investigation was underway. >

Here's the report from the article:

<The violence came a day after the U.S. military said it dropped a 500-pound bomb on the wrong house outside the northern city of Mosul, killing five people. The man who owned the house said the bomb killed 14 people, and an Associated Press photographer said seven of them were children.>

I guess you could say dropping a 500 pounder on a residential home, admittedly, the wrong target, only has a possibility of killing innocent people but how do you say that when half of the dead are children? Why not just tell the world you kill people indiscriminately and then LIE ABOUT IT. This apology reminds me of the Japanese Emperor's belated, hedged and circumlocuted "apologies" for slaughtering millions in Asia.

Similarly, the dead bodies recovered thus far in second Fallujah campaign are overwhelmingly dead women, children and old men.

9. Spray and pray
The troops have no idea what is going on around them. How could they? They are aliens occupying the heart of the Arab world. It generates a paranoid feeling without determined groups of hardened fighters trying to kill you. Result, bomb goes off, spray bullets everywhere.

7. The atrocity will be glossed over by media...
It's not in line with telling the public about the good things like the schools he have rebuilt.

My god, if the civilian death toll keeps going the way it is going, there will be no one left except "insurgents."

Sigh.

12. It is better than Soviet era Propaganda in a critical way!
The citizens of the USSR KNEW they were being lied to and decieved. As opposed to the new improved era of AmeriKan propaganda where 60%(perhaps more) of the viewing public feel they are viewing and reading a "free press".
