Autry wants to suspend it for calling a conservative organization 'hate group.'

Mayor Alan Autry will try to suspend the city's Human Relations Commission after its chairwoman issued a news release labeling a local conservative organization a "hate group."

Autry vowed Saturday to take action against the commission in the latest clash between the group and more conservative members of the Fresno city government.

He was reacting to a news release Chairwoman Debbie Reyes sent Friday that warned, "a rally is being organized by a hate group called 'The Free Republic.' "

The statement was stamped with the city of Fresno's seal.

One of our forum members over at Bartcop (MasterBen) who found this suggests that we write the reporter and thank him [e-mail] . "The Fresno Bee is normally a Right Wing paper, and for them to publish this article is a great step in the direction of discrediting the Freepers on their home soil."

6. My letter to the Mayor

Mayor Autry,

Whether you admit it or not, Free Republic IS a hate group.

In the past they have resorted to almost every type of deceit to advance their radical cause- identity theft, intimidation, vandalism- you name it, they've done it.

They unashamedly promote intolerance and bigotry. Yet the real shock here is that a serving public figure would be so willing to come to the aid of an organization that is so inherently base and evil.

As a veteran and American I am outraged that you would defend this viscious group and use your office to advance their twisted agenda.

Hopefully you will become educated as to their true nature and see the error of your ways.

7. I've looked at FR a couple of times

and there is no doubt in my opinion that it is a hate group. Last time I looked they were discussing killing all muslims on some kind of christian crusade.

Has he even looked at their site? Does he share and support their opinions?

I am assuming the site is the same organisation referred to, apologies if I am mistaken.
