1. Well, Faux Moos can't POSSIBLY misinform more viewers than they have done
So I don't think Murdoch owning all will make any difference whatsoever.

I mean ANY "media" that can MISINFORM 80% of their viewers is already at the peak of the misinformation game.

Viewers with 1 or more misperceptions on Iraq:

Fox News: 80%

NPR/PBS: 20%

2. Fox Viewers remind me of some people I've known at the .....
...horse track.
I mean, these people have been playing their "system" for 10 years, losing every time they go to the track and they still swear that "The System" is going to win them a lot of dough....Pathetic...

12. So, maybe the USA will be destroyed.
If the ignorant don't want to be educated and they want a Fascist government, then all we can do is figure a way to escape quickly before we are turned into experimental rats.

4. I doubt this is about...
consolidating ideological power within the Fox corporate structure--Murdoch already controls that. My guess is that he is thinking that Fox, overall, is profitable enough to pay back these billions in a short while, and he can then use the dividends from the additional stock and can borrow on the invested capital to expand in the US and elsewhere around the world.

He may have his sights set on buying out the competition (CNN, as a prime example), since the regulatory structure in this country has been very favorable to him doing so up to now. Maybe he wants to start new satellite service for Indonesia or Japan or the Middle East, or expand his Chinese operations.

Won't know until there's more news. But, his game has been to expand into and then take over means of distribution everywhere he's begun operations, so that's likely the reason for this stock buy-back.

14. That's odd....
I don't know stock law very well. Is that necessary to make the move, or is he just trying to avoid having to get agreement to do so at a stockholders meeting?

Cheers.

18. Moving
For a variety reasons - better access to US capital markets and also away from some feisty independent Aussie business/politics publications that have been causing him serious trouble.

Also, his most recent major business ventures in Australia (overseen by the idiot son Lachy) - Superleague and One_tel have gone, as we would say down there, tits-up, so I think he wants to "center" his US operations before going crawling back up the arse of the Chinese Polituburo and expanding Star TV further.

Murdoch set to buy out Fox shareholders for about $7 billion

NEW YORK -- Rupert Murdoch, consolidating his global media empire in the United States, is expected to announce today that he will buy out the shareholders of his Fox properties for about $7 billion, executives involved in the deal said Sunday night.

The deal would solidify Murdoch's control over some of the nation's most valuable media assets such as the Fox broadcast network and the DirecTV satellite service and help simplify the complicated structure of his far-flung company, News Corp., which includes newspapers, TV, film and satellite assets around the globe.

Murdoch's purchase of the remaining 20 percent of the Fox Entertainment Group also gives him greater leverage to make further media acquisitions.

The victim/fake monster game the right wingers are playing needs to be stressed over and over. Their tactics should be highlighted each and every time they play it. Your article does this nicely.

Welcome
