The White House knew this number was phoney the night of the speech.

5. HEY! Keep 'em coming, Dick! This is better news than you think.
The drip-drip-drip began long ago. Then your dear young george went on tv to announce he needed 87 billion dollars more. And then the poll numbers started sagging so much so that the media started commenting on it. Could we have another one of those tv speeches? That would be good. Wonder how low the polls will slip after that? The first one certainly didn't stanch the blood flow. (So to speak!)

Maybe you SHOULD be talking like this. It'll certainly help more of America wake up. Go on, Dickie! Tell us some more!

10. Yes, but they're going to try to dribble out these numbers
...in the hopes that no one notices the escalation in the price of this stupid war. Let's hope the bovine media manages to keep its attention on at least the price tag.

23. As poll number sag
and the possibility of losing the next election becomes real, look for them to grab all the money they can, before * is out of office.

7. "WARRIOR" CHENEY NEEDS A NEW $$$$ FIX LIKE A CRACK SMOKER
Is anyone as outraged as I am over this???

$87,000,000,000.00 (new money) to blow the crap out of a country that has all the demeanor of a homeless drunk and panhandler on the streets of D. C.

I guess we have NO---

1. Children to educate in the U.S.

2. Seniors who need prescription drugs.

3. Unemployed workers here.

4. Veterans of this or prior Wars to take care of.

5. Crumbling infastructure to fix.

6. Electrical or water grid problems.

7. Problems with social security.

8. Lagging economy with 2 million fewer jobs than 3 years ago.

Ho- Hum what uncaring scum ---Cheney, Wolfie and the CHIMP.

8. Yes, I'm outraged. Mark Shields said tax cut was over $400billion to 1%
If the tax cut to to upper 1% was deferred, it would pay for that $87b and all of Cheney's add-ons.

9. do you think shrub and his minions will spiral down like enron ?
just a great BIG collapse that leaves some in awe ????

just got back to DC from a little vacation in rural Virginia...the old confederate flag-wavers are pissed off at the shrub, they are sick of the whole Vietnam-style mess that these madmen have gotten into...I was totally amazed to hear people tell me that it's time for shrub to go home....

I actually felt good about it...those rural Virginians are a real tough group, and they mean what they say....the economy has been REAL BAD for them, and they have opened their eyes on satellite TV...
even better, on the 9/11 night I sat at a campfire, next to the Shenandoah River, with a bunch of old conferate flag-waving Virginian campers....and AMY GOODMAN WITH DEMOCRACY NOW ! came on their radios....wow !! and they liked it...there is still hope...let's keep fighting and take our country back !!!!

hey saigon68, it's our responsibility to take our country back now...we're the old people now, and wiser for the wear...and we can do it...let's make America into OUR vision of peace and justice and economic prosperity WORLD-WIDE...keep fighting, don't give up (Paul Wellstone philosophy of life)....

11. they should provide an event and time table
a milestone schedule so-to-speak

what-needs-to-be-done list

a company would expect one from a subcontractor -- and, these guys just love running (ruining) corporations

what has to be "reconstructed" - describe it, put a start/finish date on it; and, associated costs

what a mockery and boondoggle ... in broad daylight

if no one in a position of power, i.e. in the Senate, is fighting for accountability -- well, they're not too upset about the highway robbery

14. The LA Times Had This Story
the day after Cement Head's speech last Sunday.

They knew on Monday that they would need at least an additional 55 billion dollars.

From a LA Times article, Monday, Sep. 9, 2003:

"Administration officials said President Bush's emergency spending
request — which would push the U.S. budget deficit above the
half-trillion-dollar mark for the first time — still left a
reconstruction funding gap of as much as $55 billion."

picture

Is he talking about Bush*'s male equipment and this being part of the reason for his stupid behavior and our involvement in the war?

20. Exactly!
I would like to know how much of these money will be going to the private contractors and what the private contractors are doing with this money. I like to know how much of this money is actually going to Iraq verses how much is ending up in the executives' pockets.

AND Don't forget that this only takes them through this budget cycle (one year) The press makes it sound like this is all it will cost total.

Next year it will probably be $400 billion, who knows?
