World needs to see actions, not words, Kerry urges Abbas
RAMALLAH, West Bank (AFP) - Former US presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites) congratulated Mahmud Abbas on his decisive victory in the presidential election, but urged him to act swiftly to end the violence on the ground.

"The elections were obviously extremely important to the Palestinian people, to the potential for peace for the region and for Israel, and for the world that is waiting to see a change here," Kerry said following a meeting with Abbas shortly after the official results were made public.

"The president just expressed to me some very, very bold and very important plans for moving forward in an effort to end the violence and to move very strongly to change the dynamics of the region," he said.

But it was crucial that such words translated into action, he added.

"Words are easy, actions are harder, and actions are what we are going to have to see over the course of the coming weeks and months."

Kerry, who acted as an international observer during polling on Sunday, said it was important that the international community ensured a framework was put in place which would make such changes possible.

3. Although I agree he should be standing up for his own election
I do looooove the fact that he is starting to carry on as the president elect no matter what the vote was.
F the cheaters, we have a shadow government in the works here.

I chose Kerry to be my leader, and I'm still following him, not the other guy! Shadow-President Kerry, our true leader.

6. He'll be watching their back.
I read today (Globe and Mail) that only 5000 of the potential 130,000 voters in East Jerusalem were actually permitted to vote. I don't know how much I trust this election as being a valid expression of Palestinians will.

10. That was Hamas
There are widely varying reports on the actual turnout.

The "observers" have blessed the results. But they blessed ours too.

14. He has the courage to stay engaged,...that says something!!!
Ya'll can spend all your anger and whatnot as you please.

Personally, I am impressed and find myself growing even more respect for this man who, nws the outcome of an election, continues to invest himself in a goal to FIX what these neoCONimperialists have totally fucked up.

I am sick of wasting my time spinning away as an observer of THE GAME!!

I embrace those who are utilizing their energy to PLAY the game. John Kerry is IN THE GAME!!! He's worldly, brilliant, focused, purposeful and DOING,...unlike most of those forever, pimple-assed, do-less critics who would attack him,...all of whom should look in the mirror and at their lives before they consider belittling such an incredible man.

CHOOSE YOUR ENEMIES CAREFULLY!!!

If you NEED a damned target,...here, USE "JUST ME",...please. I'd rather you target me, funnel your anger and powerlessness and disappointment towards me than destroy a wise man in a position to help us all.
